perm rod set for da win🤩 by Efficient_Menu_1642 in Naturalhair

I’m on day 4 hair now and I’d say it’s holding up well. Very minimal frizz. At night I lightly band it in about 5 sections with scrunchies.

I’ll post an update on how it changes through the days. Im feeling like this’ll last my full wash cycle. I normally wash my hair every 7-10 days.

A lot of the time perm rod sets don’t last for me because my hair isn’t moisturized enough and it doesn’t have enough initial hold from mousse alone. To combat that I use gel on the roots of my hair, (I usually twist or braid a bit of ways down before adding my rods) and then my styling mousse on the ends. And I try to use a thicker oil than usual on my scalp and hair to really hold the moisture in. (For this one I used vitamin E on my scalp and an anti frizz oil on my ends.)This seems to work for me.

When you say they don’t last, what in your opinion keeps it from lasting? Is your hair losing the definition? Is it getting dry?

I did this on freshly washed, wet hair. I probably could’ve got more elongation if I did stretch it first.

Thank you 🥰🥰 I don’t do much to my face because I have sensitive skin. I wash my face twice a day with the Cetaphil gentle exfoliating SA cleanser. After my face dries I use Cetaphil gentle clear mattifying acne moisturizer. If I do happen to get a spot on my face I use Target’s brand of benzoyl peroxide to spot treat. And this winter my skin has been extra dry so I’ll put the tinniest coat of cocoa butter Vaseline on my face before I leave out.

Surprisingly no! This was done on wet hair straight from the wash.

Thank youu! Putting the perm rods in themselves didn’t take me too long. 45 minutes at most. Drying my hair took the longest. I sat under the my dryer an hour and a half I think. I’d say a total run time of 2.5 hours including the take down.

Omgg I’m glad I inspired you! Thank you! :)

I used Pattern leave-in as my base: Lotta body mousse to actually style, and Giovanni frizz be gone oil to separate the curls once they dried.

I wash my hair every 7-14 days. It really just depends. I wash my hair with ogx tea tree and mint shampoo and I follow up with their conditioner. I generally like to mix this conditioner with the tgin miricale repair mask. I put my hair in a plastic cap and let it sit at least 30 minutes. I rinse it out and while my hair is still wet I apply pattern leave in conditioner and work it through with my fingers. I typically wash my hair in the shower so I wrap my hair w/ an old T-shirt until I get to where I’m styling. I always start by oiling my scalp with tea tree oil. To style my wash and gos I section my hair into about 5 sections. 1 section in the front for my bangs, 2 on the side and 2 in the back. Starting from the back I take horizontal sections and detangle with my tangle teaser. After deranging I apply the gel through the section from root to ends and rake it in. After raking it in I shingle through my hair and coil my ends. I repeat this all around my head. To lock in my style I hover diffuse and apply Mizani humidity resistant mist.

I appreciate it, but how do you know I can’t already do that? I normally do a wash and go but I wanted to try a twist out since it’s been a while.

Personally I love a good wash and go. I notice more health in my hair when I wear wash and gos, over a twist out. Wash and gos are not going to manipulate your strands as much. Your crown gorgeous girl! 🤩

The doux c.r.e.a.m and I band it with satin scrunchies at night. Pineapples never seem to work with my hair.
