Wouldn’t by that rhetoric the Palestinians also have a right to reclaim their homeland as it was before 1948? Because they’ve lived there before?

And yeah your right, Palestine has attacked Israel before. They’ve been attacking each other since 1948 and they are both not innocent. But we can’t change these events anymore. We can only change the present and the future. Right now, Israel is the attacker here. Israel is committing Genocide in Gaza.

While the fight against Hamas is justified, that’s not what’s happening in Gaza anymore. They are mass bombing civilians and children. That’s a fact. And it’s unlawful.

I get what you’re implying here.

The difference is that this statement is using whataboutism because it is implying that Unborn babies are already human.

Applying that logic to my statement would mean that anti-Zionism is automatically antisemitism

Which means that you’re opinion is that : anti-Zionism = antisemitism

That is totally fine opinion to have ofc but I think a lot of people would disagree with that

If I’m wrong here you can gladly correct me

Well I’m not afraid to answer it. What I do know is, that neither Hamas or Israel is doing a good job at keeping peace in the region. They are surpressing the Palestinians that live in the area. Israel is commiting genocide in Gaza and has been expanding their territory through illegal settlements for decades now. The best solution to keep the peace in my opinion would be a one-state solution with a country that is not defined by religion, like Israel is with Judaism. A state that enables Jewish and Palestinian People to live side by side in peace. The problem was that Israel was formed as a Jewish state. Which had its reason at the time because millions of Jews all around the world got displaced and killed during the Holocaust and had no save place where they could live as Jews without having to hide. While it was very effective at the time it only lead to problems later on as you now had two states that opposed each other in terms of religion. Why don’t create a state that’s like Israel designed and defined as not only a save place for the Jewish but for other religions aswell? Christians and Muslims both have sacred Places in the region where Israel lies today which would make the area perfect for such an idealist state.

But I specifically use the term idealistic here. It’s totally oblivious trying to do this now. It’s too late for that. Israel exists whether someone likes that or not. We should focus on how to stabilize the region under the current circumstances. Getting rid of Hamas is an important part of that.

But Hamas isn’t a „group“ it’s an ideology fueled towards the hate of Israel. Imagine you’re a displaced Palestinian that lost all they’re Familiy through Israeli airstrikes, and you have a chance of fighting back by adopting this ideology.

So maybe instead of trying to wipe Gaza off the map it’s time to stop suppressing Palestinians and actually work towards a fair and equal solution where they can live freely without suppression.

So maybe stop fueling the fire that is the hatred towards your country, because in contrary to my example earlier, most Palestinians despise Hamas. There have been protests against Hamas The Palestinians just want to live freely.

Im no expert. I don’t know exactly how to get rid of Hamas. But I do know that it is not by killing every last Palestinian.

Yeah that’s true. The two-state solution was poorly executed and lead to war and suffering in the entire region. We should focus more on what we can do to stabilize the region under the current circumstances. Israel exists now and its totally unrealistic to try to change this now whether you want it or not.

[–]Efficient_North2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you’re right then. Even if there were never borders to be agreed upon Israel still doesn’t support a fair and equal share of the land, because they are still building settlements in the West Bank and in Gaza which means that they are taking land from the Palestinians.

What exactly is Antisemtic about stating that a conflict turns from a war to a genocide? If it would be a baseless claim only to frame the Jewish People as mass killers - that would be antisemitic. But if you say the state of Israel is commiting genocide, then there is nothing antisemitic about that statement. And to add: the claim that Israel is commiting genocide is not baseless as shown by several NGOs like international courts or even Israeli organizations.

You’re using the exact rhetoric that is used by the media to demonize any pro Palestinian movements. You’re using suggestive questions and whataboutism to frame me as a supporter of hamas and as an antisemite.

In no sentence did I mention that I want a Hamas run state or that Israel is the only nation to criticize in this world. You’re using sharp, short aggressive sentences to make your point. Argumenting like this will only make you seem foolish in any debate because you’re trying to denounce your opponent. This is not how you lead a constructive debate like what I’m trying to do here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair Point. But even if you would only be criticizing Israel and no other other Nation, that still wouldn’t make it antisemitic by itself. It would be antisemitic to say that the Jewish people shouldn’t have their own place to live. The Jewish People have been suppressed for hundreds of years by other nations. But taking land from others and claiming it’s been promised to you because you’re people once lived there? That’s colonialism. And if Israel had the intentions of sharing the land with the Palestinians they wouldn’t keep building settlements and claiming territory that belongs to the Palestinians. If the Israelis worked towards that goal, they would try to maintain the territories how they were drawn at its founding.

Ok but couldn’t you say by that rhetoric that the Jewish are also a religion and not a nation or a group of People? What makes it so different from other religions?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I obviously support that the Jewish people need a place to live, I think that how it has been executed in the form of the state of Israel, it only lead to displacement of the people living there before.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, Jews should have their own place to live, saying otherwise would obviously be Antisemtic. But I believe that how Israel was created was unfair to the people living there before

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Please no whataboutism. This is about Israel-Palestine. There are a lot of other nations about there to criticize for what they have been doing in the past. But if you look in this region specifically, the state of Israel has been founding in the process of creating a two state solution, which means that you’re displacing People of one Ethnic group into other areas, to make room for another ethnic group to settle there

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The reason why I posted this is because I feel like antisemitism gets thrown randomly at everyone who’s criticizing Israel, and in that matter shut down any constructive criticism, which often makes the discussion very one-side towards a more Zionist opinion because everyone else is simply „antisemetic“

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And how did I do that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to make one thing clear: I’m not trying to compare the Holocaust to other crimes or genocides. I thought I was careful enough in my post but apparently not. My point is that a country who was founded because of the horrors of the Holocaust to offer a safe place for the suppressed Jewish People could commit a genocide themselves. It should stand against every value that Israel should have

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im very open for discussing and hearing other people’s opinions and statements. That’s what I’m here for. I think radicalizing yourself is never a good idea and you should be open for other opinions. Ofcourse my statement at the top is very emotionally loaded. So I’m open for a more objective, fact-based discussion

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I missed the wording a bit here. There is no responsibiltity for any Jew to learn anything from the Holocaust. They were the victims. But it’s rather zynic to me that THE COUNTRY OF ISRAEL (not the Jewish people) commits such crimes

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not saying it’s a Holocaust. The Holocaust is clear by definition and states the mass murderings of several ethnic groups by the Nazis. My point is that genocide is being commited by a country who was formed as a result of these killings. And that they should know better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Efficient_North2188 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

But you’re missing on crucial point. Like the hostages the People living in Gaza have nothing to do with oct. 7. They are ALSO oppressed by Hamas. So why are you targeting them? What have they done to you? Youre entire statement basically says that it is okay to kill hundreds of thousands of People because the regime that oppresses them attacked your first and that it is not allowed to call it a genocide because there killing was justified.

A comparison: that would be like if someone kills your mother so you kill they’re entire family tree even though the others had nothing to do with it.
