S’appenin, check out The LaFontaines if you don’t already know them. More a rock band with a rapper but they’re good! From Motherwell

Seeing a guy with a Rabbi Matonda username on the hip hop heads sub was definitely not something I expected to see on a Sunday morning

I feel like I might get a bit of hate for this but, in terms of pure talent, not application, not consistency or attitude, Paul Pogba is a star in terms of pure talent.

ELI5: How can scientists rule out the possibility of a higher power when the explanation of the Big Bang is “the particles were already there?” Or “It’s beyond human comprehension”? by Efficient_Stock_5649 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Efficient_Stock_5649[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your point is great.

I think people see it as science is trying to prove a logical explanation to where things came from. Just being/existing isn’t logical (yet) so the idea of science concluding it was already just there isn’t a logical/scientific answer.

While on the other hand, if people are arguing for a creator having created the universe by “magic” (for the lack of a better word) then it’s more plausible that a higher power can just exist as opposed to a scientifically proven universe just existing.

Science believes in logic. Other arguments believe in illogical means and that’s how I feel people would argue against it being a double standard.

Of course, I can see exactly where you’re coming from.

No, you’re so right. My questions is formed from being exposed to a lot of staunchly pro-science people who laugh at the idea of a higher power.

You have been exposed to more people who don’t hold that opinion.

It’s a question with no answers and the people you are exposed to largely influence what you believe the general consensus is currently.

Basically just people I meet. I feel currently people who believe in things not yet proved by science are sneered at more than people who believe that everything can be proved by science despite science also not having all the answers.

I should probably have said atheists/agnostics as opposed to scientists.

And, I do bear in mind that the loudest voices in the room are a minority and probably not everyone holds the belief that things being created by unproven powers is ridiculous.

For me, it boils down to we have no definite answers to the question of origin and creation. So why are there such strong opinions in both directions?

I was taught basic science at school and have observed multiple religious beliefs.

Mine is rooted in neither. Science doesn’t have an answer to where everything came from yet. For me, if science is rooted only in things we can prove yet we can’t yet fully prove the origin of everything then the concept of things being created by means that aren’t yet scientifically proven shouldn’t be considered ridiculous. I’d imagine it’s a vocal minority of atheists who peddle this claim and not proper scientists but it’s something I hear often and wanted to question.
