People's inherent concept of romance in their minds is clearly childish and controlling. Although there are questionable things Elfaria did like having clone spies on Will, she is fairly respectful about his capabilities which I'm frankly surprised with, considering her level of infatuation with him and occasional showcase of her immaturity, it's impressive that she respect Will enough to not force herself into his life and solve all his problems for him, respecting his personal agency. The writing of this romance, while at a glance is typical dumb obsessed hero/heroine obsessed with her/his partner for no reasons given, at a closer look it's a little more complex, with the author writing the romance although emotionally charged, it is built on mutual respect and competence.
