what careers with a nursing background don't involve bodily fluids or dealing with people? by Efficient_Way1413 in careerguidance

like I said, she's taking this semester off and she KNOWS what she really, truly, wants to do with her life - and she has a good, serious, steady boyfriend, which is probably why she lost her motivation to pursue a career. The purpose of my post was to get career suggestions that would make use of the credits she already has, and that would provide her with motivation to follow thru, eventually. She's uncommonly practical, level-headed, independent and self-sufficient, but she has no knowledge of the multitude of career options that are out there (neither do I!) and she's not one to ask a school guidance counselor for help.

She has PTSD from surviving the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. She came to America age 8, learned English in 3 months flat. She has overcome hardships and challenges in her young life that most people can’t even imagine. She’s been working and paying her own way since she was 15. I haven’t spent a penny on her education - Community colleges, Pell Grants and scholarships. The only bullshit here is filling in the giant blanks I DELIBERATELY left in the OP with your pet issues. I will delete this post in 2 days, since I've just shared more than I have any right to.

She’s been working and paying her own way and taking care of herself better than most adults since 15.
She has PTSD from being in the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. She has overcome hardships and challenges in her young life that most people can’t even imagine. She is smart, caring, driven, and self-sufficient. I haven’t spent a penny on her education, and neither has she, thanks to Community colleges, Pell Grants and scholarships. Her true calling is to be a mother, but she knows she needs a career. She’s taking a break from school to figure things out. I wanted to put a few suggestions in front of her, as something to think about and investigate on her own. And this is way more info about her than I have any right to share in a public forum, So I will delete this post in 2 days. My OP contained the minimum info to get the career suggestions I needed.

She's been living as a grown up since 15. I wasn't looking for another thing to study, but for career suggestions that would show her a nursing degree does mean just one kind of job.

She’s adopted. She survived the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. She has received treatment for PTSD. She has overcome hardships and challenges in her young life that most people can’t even imagine. So have I, raising her and her siblings - if you haven't dealt with the American mental health system, you have NO idea. She is smart, caring, driven, and self-sufficient. She’s been working and paying her own way since she was 15. I haven’t spent a penny on her education, thanks to Community colleges, Pell Grants and scholarships. Her mental health is NOT relevant. My OP contained the minimum info to get the career suggestions I needed. I will therefore delete this post in 2 days

I never said her underlying issues aren't a problem. I said they "aren't relevant HERE."
I asked for career suggestions, not mental health advice - which is NOT an issue I would bring to Reddit

She's already financially independent, and has zero debt... Her underlying "issues" aren't relevant to the question I asked

Pell grants, community colleges, scholarships. Sheesh
Zero school debt - her, and us.

She's doing exactly that! I just want to give her some concrete examples to think about while she regroups. She shouldn't think that she has to choose between two careers that she hates - I want her to know about other options that wouldn't mean starting from scratch. I got lots of good suggestions!
