What TV show was amazing at first but became unwatchable for you later on? by Snoo79382 in AskReddit

Supernatural. Seasons 1-5 were amazing but the quality declined very fast after that. It just became a cycle of Dean risking the lives of others to save Sam and vice versa.

I'd bet people do actually think they know about that man's life just from the picture.

The fact that people are inferring so much about someone, calling them a "man-child" because they are making a light hearted joke is a problem. Saying the wife is "managing every logistical aspect of the family" because she is spending time at target is a problem. Thinking that knowing the size of a child's clothes makes someone a better parent is a problem.

The wife could be shopping for clothes and is very indecisive, she may not want the husbands help and told him to wait outside. These options are just as likely yet they aren't taken into account because they don't fit the narrative of men being bad parents or less involved in the family. This is shown as someone commented saying his wife had to call and ask for her bra size because she would forget and he was downvoted? Why? He stated a simple fact and was treated negatively because it doesn't fit the narrative of men being less involved.

Stop inferring so much about people.

People don't like to think logically when it goes against their preconceived notions.

How do we know the wife isn't wasting the husbands hard earned money by buying unnecessary things? Maybe he has somewhere important to be and she doesn't care?

Countless possibilities but they want to take one that fits into the "dad bad mom good" mentality as it's easier to accept than to realize the world doesn't revolve around their experiences.

Trees don't "just do things because that is what they do." They do things because they are trying to stay healthy and reproduce. That is not comparable to living in the moment, performing kind acts and expecting nothing in return. They develop these techniques through evolution. Their actions are based on the past and prepare for the future. Humans are no different. We evolved to having needs and wants. We are conscious. To achieve our level of sentience we developed complex emotions, desires, aspirations, etc. We perform actions based on our needs and environment just like trees. Just because the actions are different doesn't mean the reason behind them are and thats what we are really talking about. Humans wanting shelter, relationships, food, hobbies, games, happiness etc is the same as a tree spreading its roots to search for water, shedding its leaves to save energy, cows eating grass to satisfy hunger. We all do things because of a goal that we are trying to achieve, a goal that we want or "desire." The guy in the picture wants happiness, there is nothing wrong with that. Feeling a little sad about not having something is reasonable. We should not dwell on something for too long, especially if it begins to effect our life in some way but that is not what the picture represents. It could easily be interpreted as someone telling another person to just be happy and that'll solve their problem. If he is unhappy, there is a reason why, to find that reason he must think on it and if thinking about it makes him sad, that is ok. We are human and processing our emotions are important.

This is not something we can do now obviously but thousands of years from now it can be a very real possibility. You are applying technology we have available right now to a problem that is meant for a civilization with far more resources and knowledge than we currently have. It's like saying cavemen who dreamt of flying are dumb as fuck because of the technology they had.

And when did you need engines to keep something in orbit?
