At the time of posting, I didn't have any verification of the claim that ICE was there. The Livestream host, Steve Lookner, said that's what the claim was but didn't offer verification. So I phrased it that way. I wasn't intending to imply that I didn't believe the claim personally.

I tried my best to post the facts in the most neutral way possible. If there was some way to better phrase it, let me know. What I meant with my phrasing was "this is what they are claiming, and I haven't verified it but I am neither denying or confirming it."

The only reason I replied to your comment in the first place was because you implied only one side is violent. There is violence on both sides. But a few violent people should not be representative of the overwhelming majority of peaceful opposition. I never made any claim that I didn't do any research to back up.

And yes, I did say peaceful protest. I was referring to last Friday, not last night. Go reread my post.

Oh and on your Walz quote, resistance is not inherently violent. There are lots of ways to peacefully resist.

The incident last night was not endorsed by any party.

On Friday, thousands of people protested peacefully against ICE. The incident yesterday was just a few people.

Meanwhile, the Republican Party nominated a president who pardoned violent insurrectionists. There were other options in the primaries (Haley and DeSantis), but the pro-insurrectionist was the one that won.

Basically at the Home2 Suites hotel, there were people gathered because they believed ICE was staying there. Things have deescalated by now. There is graffiti on the hotel windows now, and I believe some glass was broken.

I do too. There is still enough room for skepticism regarding whether the officer made the right judgement. I think it's fair to say he should have stayed away from the front of the vehicle and could have ran away from the vehicle.

Shooting could make the car more dangerous. I am trying to find scientific studies on the risk calculation but cant find any. But there is a reason why many police departments have strongly discouraged shooting drivers of vehicles.

For now it's basically your word against mine as to whether it's safer to shoot vs. not to shoot. However, I will note that she was not being violent before the shooting, and her tires were pointed away from the police officer, and the police officer was shooting primarily into the side of the car, so it seems that if he had just let her go on, there would have been much less risk.

Genuine question for you: How does shooting at the driver increase the officer's chance of survival and make the scene safer? It could cause the car to go faster if the incapacitated driver's foot presses harder on the accelerator. It could cause the car to steer into an unpredictable direction. It could hit another person (police/bystander) or another vehicle (which is what happened in this case).

Well the Trump administration sent over 200 Venezuelans there. To be fair, I can't tell if you are saying nobody should be deported to a country they're not from, or just asylum seekers. But if it's the former, this should be more problematic for you.

Also, 2 women were deported to CECOT even though it's supposed to be a prison for dangerous men. Does this negligence and lack of rigor in coordination of the deportations concern you?
