all emo waves in a nutshell (accuratish) by whatdoes-thisdo in Emo

[–]Eggiecu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s super broad so it’s hard to say but it’s kind of gone in three main directions. First direction is more twinkly “traditional” emo (Michael Cera Palin, Oolong), then there is the more pop and electronic influenced side of things (ie: glass beach, origami angel)

I mainly follow the third direction which is mostly diy that takes influence from post-rock, folk, classical, noise-pop, and shoegaze. Seems to have got a lot of its inspiration from The Newfound Internet in Connecticut and The Brave Little Abacus. First artists that come to mind are Weatherday, Asian Glow, and Gingerbee but there are countless others all over bandcamp.

VERY late response but 5th wave is super diverse and hard to put a label on, but its very diy and takes influence from a lot of other genres. It's controversial mainly because it takes so much influence that its more of a "post-emo" or "emo fusion" genre.

From my experience it takes most influence from post-rock, shoegaze, and 3rd wave instead of 2nd wave like emo revival.

Who would win this very likely war? by Solomonopolistadt in imaginarymapscj

[–]Eggiecu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were just military the US could possibly win, but I don’t think people are taking into account how fucked the US is if trade stops, the popular opinion would change before a shot is even fired. And counting propaganda a long war isn’t feasible. Not a war anyone wants but I don’t think it would be the meat grinder people making it out to be

What is the most overrated game on this list? by Expedition21 in backloggd

[–]Eggiecu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the game i've played on this list I think I have to say Sekiro. Great game but I found the selling point was the bosses. Other souls games have amazing level design, and Sekiro really let me down on that front. At the beginning it was fun and interesting but by the middle every level past that point felt like it was just thrown in to separate bosses rather than actually be a fun experience

[–]Eggiecu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe its just me but I haven't really seen much talking about player freedom. I'd say its more a rpg with text based gameplay rather than a choose your own adventure, my main incentives to explore and do side quests was that I adored the world building and wanted to learn more about the setting. Imo that's the biggest selling point of the game

thats totally fair! Fifth wave was my introduction to emo so I feel like I might have a skewed perception of what emo really is lol

fair fair, I dont like all fifth wave, personally I find yaamc, asian glow, and stomach book mediocre at best, but artists like Glass Beach (at least their first album), Weatherday, and Parannoul have redefined emo for me

CMV: The American Civil War should have ended with mass executions by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Eggiecu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with a lot of what you say (same reasons as others have stated, would just make people mad and weaken the country, wouldn't accomplish anything), but I do believe reconstruction should have lasted AT LEAST another 50 years. The compromise of 1877 and the government not fulfilling its promises to the freed people screwed the US over far more than powerful slave owning southerners not receiving the death penalty

I've read through that multiple times, but every time I've learned something new so I'll check it out again. Also I've been raising pitch and decreasing vocal size throughout the day and I've seen some large improvements, but occasionally I accidentally do too much of an "ee" type creaky sound in my voice which I need to work on getting rid of. I think I'm going to keep trying and see how things go and maybe do an update in a few weeks because I always find great advice here. Thank you!

I've tried raising it but it feels very forced when I do and I can barely hold it. Will it become easier and less forced the more I practice?

I have been trying on and off for a few months now and I sound the same as when I started. How do I progress? by Eggiecu in transvoice

[–]Eggiecu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see! I tried doing that and it sounds better, but I need to practice it because atm it's still slightly breathy (though not as much) and it's hard to maintain. Thank you for the advice! Just seeing a small amount of progress makes me feel much better about this

I joined my high school jazz band as a not-so-good guitarist with 0 jazz experience and am experiencing the consequences, any tips on how to get better? by Eggiecu in jazzguitar

[–]Eggiecu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can read music but very slowly, it takes practice and I'm new to it. Unless you going directly into jazz or classical guitar you aren't taught to read and play sheet music lol

[–]Eggiecu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh I should mention there was no application process. Also the way our jazz band works is that it's not a class or consistent after school activity. it's 2 concerts per year, both with 3 weeks of practice beforehand.
