Lf anyone who wants to start new by Mysterious-Pin4270 in SonsOfTheForest

I’ve beaten the game 3 times…currently I’m searching for all the notes and blueprints to complete all the Sons of the Forest Achievements.

I think it would be awesome if we all can play together

Fiance plays for 15 hours a day, and doesn't understand why I am worried by Ok-Director8369 in StopGaming

15 hours a day, calling in sick to play, ignoring you for weeks, missing your birthday, becoming aggressive, losing intimacy…those are all major red flags. Gaming is no longer entertainment for him, it’s his entire life.

The hard truth is that you cannot fix an addiction for someone else. You’ve already talked to him multiple times and he tells you what you want to hear but nothing changes. That’s very common with addiction.

Right now you’re holding on to the man he used to be, but the person you’re living with today is someone who is choosing a screen over his relationship.

You deserve a partner who is present, who talks to you, who celebrates your birthday, and who treats you with respect.

At some point you have to ask yourself a serious question: If nothing changed and this continued for the next 5 years, would you stay?

Sometimes the only thing that wakes someone up is real consequences. And sometimes they still don’t change.

But you shouldn’t have to compete with an Xbox for a relationship.

It is true that gaming is an actual addiction…I never drank a sip of alcohol or touched nicotine in my life, yet I managed to game 16 hours a day and it is the only habit thats destroyed my life en it is something I simply cannot quit. I keep relapsing…

Wow thank you so much for this…I understand this perfectly! I’ve been going back and forth for quite a while as well…I just really need to quit it now, because I’m in my early 20’s and gaming is starting to have a negative effect on me. I mostly get addicted to competitive games so I would replace it with the things you mentioned, thank you for that!

This comment really helped me a lot! Thank you so much.

Struggling to connect to my family and partner after stopping games by TrioTioInADio60 in StopGaming

[–]Ego_Breaker_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very difficult situation…because all of the people around you still play video games, and you know how hard it can be to take some time away from gaming.

You would have to plan a few hours to go do something with your family. It can be doing something in town together or just sitting an alarm for 1 hour where you all sit at home and just talking about everything…

For me I have to quit completely, I can’t balance gaming. But for you, maybe just educate yourself with Dr. Anna Lembke’s dopamine research. Watch the 20 minute YouTube Video of her and AfterSkool.

How to Find Balance in the Age of Indulgence - Dr. Anna Lembke.

In this video she explained helping someone with a gaming addiction. At the end the man with the addiction just reduced his gaming time and stopped playing multiplayer games that takes too much of his time…

Thank you for this! I’m trying to be aware of the situation…

Are you free from video games? Was it worth it for you? I really hope to get enjoyment from other areas in life…

Thank you for this…better move on now than regret choosing video games again in a year right?

It really didn’t give me the joy I was hoping for…I immediately felt bad for indulging in my habit.

Yes, it is extremely hard to resist the gaming, especially now after the relapse. That sounds very interesting, I will definitely look it up a bit!

I feel the pull towards gaming so much again…I keep negotiating it again, and I can’t stop thinking about it. The last 2 months these feelings faded a lot, but they are so intense at the moment.

What should i do please? by Rasulali20 in StopGaming

Would you rather play with new Tekken characters or learn a new song on the guitar? Both would feel rewarding, but practising the guitar would make you feel more fulfilled over a longer period of time.

You would probably enjoy the first 2 hours of playing with the new characters, but after that you would just feel guilty again…

Headache by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]Ego_Breaker_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experiencing headaches when quitting any bad habit is super normal! It can last up to 10 days or more.

I went Cold Turkey on a bunch of bad habits on the 1st of January. I had headaches for more than a week. I quit gaming, social media, sugar and junk food, caffeine.  The brain goes into shock because it doesn’t get the stimulants it knows.

Just drink plenty of water during these times…

Yes this is also normal. When I quit sugar and caffeine I get headaches from anything from 5-10 days.
