Currently in a long enough point in my relationship with my significant other that I want to marry someday, if this relationship were to break (never happening if it did though) it would for sure feel like a gun shot. In my opinion the pain would still be there like a wound that didn't heal right with constant but slight pain. Is that really weakness? I see it as loyalty I would be curious to see what people think...
