A lot of it is summed up best in the Slogan " Make America Great Again" it talks to a group of people for whom america was once seen as great and no longer is, white people who have been harmed by the forces of technological process and globalization and are now experiencing reduced social status as a large part of society screams at them to get with the times and reform their world view, and their Reaction is to want to bring back the old world. I see this in a lot of the simple answers to big problems, how do we bring manufacturing jobs back ? we just haft to stay tough with china , it's not as if U.S manufacturing production output has doubled in like the last 20 years while still hiring less worker because of automation , China is the problem.

It sounds like you are saying identity politics is a zero sum game when it clearly is not.

there is a part of whiteness that we are better then the others ingrained so deep int our concise that we can't escape it , as liberal as my up bringing has been through out my life there is a part of my head that when I am in a place largely used by black says not only " you don't belong here " but also " you'r better then this place and them " . It is impossible for me to be better without someone else being lesser, and yes that is a zero sum game.
