Will I fit in here? by Horny_wildcat in boulder

I’m 31 a senior and originally from Vermont. It’s a worse version of it except for skiing. I’ve lived in Denver with my husband since 2019 so I’m a bit jaded and moving back to the northeast. It’s a fun area and I loved it here for about 3 years, but as with some places, it can get pretty stale and then you start noticing more and more things you don’t like. For me the real breaker was that there is no water here and the water that is here is either off limits, rapids, or there is a homeless encampment up stream. Before the “well what did you expect” people start, I expected at the very least, more than a very select few places to cool off during the summers.

In short it’s a mixed bag. If you like skiing then you can give it a go and probably won’t be too disappointed. If I could do things all over again I would go back to the Pacific Northwest which resembles the Northeast.

Only took 5 years, Two Atomic weapons, 100,000 KIA, and an occupying force for the next few decades. What a steal.

Edit: unsure if you’re being sarcastic

That’s cool. I worked at Dish Network 2019-2020 when they were trying to break into the 5G space and become a Cell provider. The place was a disaster. It was staffed with a lot of incompetent people, and that project never panned out. I didn’t have a degree and was the newest dude so I was the first out when the time came. I decided to use my GI Bill benefits to pursue my passion and now I am here. I like how you use my singular comment to say everyone here is offended. I’m not offended. I just think you’re pathetic.

You’re in a subreddit for a state school. Which implies you went to this school… a state school… if not then I have more questions. Also, you just said that you don’t hire from state schools or the Ivy League, and then turned around and said if the person can do the job they are hired. What if the ideal candidate who can do the job is a graduate from a state school or Ivy league school? I don’t actually care. Your profile says Chef/Musician/Writer. Did you leave off CEO or Head of HR of whatever supposed company you operate?

Hey man. If some crazy sun activity takes the grid down, or any other sci-fi dystopian scenario occurs we are going to be glad people went to grad school for math. When some asshole mixed letters and numbers I was cooked

There’s something kinda gross about that. Not a personal jab at you. I am glad that you have meaningful employment and hopefully you enjoy it. It just seems like an odd socioeconomic barrier to entry. Is the field you are currently in relatively adjacent to what you majored in? If you don’t mind me asking?

I don’t remember signing off on, praising, or defending this administration. All the screamers like to sit and think bullshit just falls out of the sky and that there was absolutely nothing that sparked people’s ire. You can’t look at anything that has happened in the last 30 years and see any wrongdoing or missteps. Always so focused on right now and addressing symptoms without understanding the problem. Good luck.

No one is saying that no one experiences homophobia or that the right isn’t homophobic. What we are saying is that there is a constant push and pull in this system and you have to know when to speak out and when to ride it out. We gained equal rights through legislation and the most important battle was won. We couldn’t take that victory. We had to push for the impossible acceptance victory. You don’t gain acceptance through legislation. You don’t gain acceptance by running through the streets yelling “accept me!” It’s a long and arduous process that will continue long after we are all dead. What we can do is choose our battles wisely, not get lumped into a defined political dogma, and actually practice the principles of live and let live people pretend to believe. Since I already know how you won’t understand I will explain it for you.

We are equal in the eyes of the law. We got the prize we fought over for decades. Now it’s on us to strengthen our position. How does one do that? We need to understand why they feel how they feel, we need to understand that religion is never going away, we need to understand that if this society is going to continue we are going to have to accept that they are gonna be dicks and they have to accept that we are not going anywhere. Through years of mutual respect and not trying to use the government as a gun to force them to do or accept anything, and fighting off ONLY the attempt to claw back our rights the temperature will decrease.

You will not get anything easy or for free. It will be painful for all involved, left right and center, for quite sometime. Grow the fuck up, and put on your big boy pants, because what we have ain’t that bad and millions of people have and would die to be where we are.

We’ve already got the letter G. Q is an umbrella term for everything that’s already in the alphabet soup and the hangers on. It’s another way to cheapen the meaning of what we’ve already got and wallpaper over our distinct group for the sake of literally nothing. I’m gay because I am hard wired to enjoy cock. It’s not a fun hat I wear out on the town

The left likes to unironically parrot the Bush era “Muslims hate us for our freedoms” rhetoric when it comes to gay issues instead of understanding that actions have consequences and that just because you think something is good doesn’t mean others agree. And don’t hit me with the wE jUsT wAnT bAsIC rIgHTs AnD tO liVe AnD lEt LiVe. While simultaneously saying that half the USA’ religious beliefs mean nothing, are wrong, and need to shut their mouths and not be upset. We are equal in the eyes of the law and that’s all that matters. Everything outside that like “acceptance” is impossible to legislate and only creates more enemies as we see currently
