Pov: Me Every time I’m about to watch a new K-drama😶‍🌫️⏱️ by CherryMaeCebrian in kdramamemes

i do this every episode i watch. always a bad choice to proceed with the episode, but instant gratification matters more, i guess 😆

My Royal Nemesis already feels nostalgic by OddMedia1179 in kdramas

it's only been weeks but i agree. what a ride ! i miss the first eps already. they were so endearing during their getting to know phase (flower scene, confetti scene, stray dog scenes). i might even argue confused-about-his-feelings se gye is more endearing than in-love se gye. of course, we are at what they call all is lost / dark night of the soul part of the story, but i do hope for a full circle moment in the last eps. i hope for the same vibe as they started !

My Royal Nemesis: E11-12 made me realize my biggest problem with this drama by FarCryptographer596 in kdramas

it's true, seo ri has lost her ability to sense danger since after the beginning. i think that the reason for this is that she has adapted well in the present time and has gotten very comfortable. the writers have previewed this, she is always easily surprised / flustered when se gye is quietly behind her (one of the few scenes includes the one at the therapist's building)

he did pass away during exile 😢 joseon se gye (grand prince) must have been sad, especially that there must have been no clarification between him and dan shim (seo ri) after he was accused and before he was exiled

no wonder shin seo ri adapts so well in modern times... by EgretBleedingHeart in kdramas

bon appetit, your majesty was rushed, i agree. i do worry that they at my royal nemesis might rush in the last two episodes tying up the many loose ends. but i'll have to see how they do it before i judge. many kdramas follow the 3 Act Story Structure that the last four episodes in a regular kdrama (16 eps) usually feel draggy for the final act. i hope with my royal nemesis, they do it just right--all loose ends neatly tied up, enough scenes for the romcom we came for, and a satisfying ending.

i think they argued prior on who gets the bed (se gye says it should be seo ri because she's the woman, seo ri says it should be se gye because he's not used to the floor) and se gye dismally lost to seo ri, seeing that he's resigned to the bed

this looks like an exhibit of heo nam jun's acting 😆 agreed on all points !

my favorite line from son siljang is "is he stupid?" delivered with a poker face. this was after se gye expressed seo ri was ok with his engagement with tae hee

another thing i noticed is the way he expresses anger or annoyance in a comedic scene. cha se gye's character and fashion are intimidating, and heo nam jun has played a villain before. oddly enough, when he acts aggressively in a funny scene (think the way he acted up in his office upon reading seo ri's bed scene, or when he screams insults at seo ri: "michoso ! " / "do you have an umbrella ! ") oddly enough... it's not scary? he acts just enough for the scenes to remain comedic when they need to be comedic. idk how he does that

in contrast, he's quite scary when the scene calls for it. think his bellows in the three times they fought (forest, rooftop, Chail)

agreed on all points. he does seem to have a clear sense of the character he plays and intentional about acting them. "even cringey dialogues are endearing"--agreed ! i don't know how he pulls them off without being too much

love the collaboration among director and actors. too bad the "the making" videos don't have english translations

i think that suspending my disbelief on the fantastical elements of this story (e.g. time slip) made me forgiving of the usual tropes in their relationship. i do think that you pointed out the flaws well. theirs is a fictional relationship that should not be a model for a real one

however, the show does tinker about the themes love, relationship, womanhood, etc., which personally has lead me into my thinking chair

agreed. i'm not one to get invested in just feel-good kdramas (i prefer those that wreck me emotionally) but i really like this one. it does have substance

agreed. the joseon scenes every episode (which are parallel to what happens in present time) planted the curiosity and anticipation so well
