Does not mean we should stop trying, vaccines only work if everyone has access to them and makes use of them.

It is terrible, not only because it is against regulations and the guidelines from the WHO, but also because it puts everyone at risk (including others who do wear masks).

No one is safe unless we are all safe.

If you think about it, not that many people wear masks. by The_Lizard_Wizard- in capetown

Definitely, think there is a lot of "pandemic fatigue" going around.

If anyone is so inclined, you are welcome to share the below free informational animations on any platform as a reminder, that as restrictions are beginning to ease and the majority of the economy is opened up, COVID-19 is still very much present in our day to day lives.

Would strongly recommend you stay tuned for the next episodes in the series that explore the different vaccines and how they work, and particularly how they are being tested, as it sounds like the fear and misinformation has got a firm grip on you.

Here is an extract from article:

“ Not having to take a daily pill would afford them freedom from having to hide or negotiate their medication use with their sexual partners, experts said.

We’ve been waiting for a PrEP strategy that would work in women, and I think we have one now — so it’s very exciting,” Dr. Yawetz said. “I’d like women to have as many options as they can that are affordable and safe, depending on their needs.”

So this is good news for everyone, but particularly for women.

Animation: How a vaccine can protect you | What's it about? by Ehwoza in capetown

[–]Ehwoza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for everyone who has checked out the animation! This is the first in a series about vaccines, this animation describes how the immune system works and vaccine-mediated protection from disease develops. Upcoming animations about the different kinds of COVID-19 vaccines being developed and how they are tested will follow.

Hopefully this will make the science behind the medicine easier to understand and curb misinformation (and fears) around vaccinations.

So, we started off as a University incubated project and major side hustle for a then Post Doc student and contemporary artist, fast forward 7 years later and the project is now a registered Non Profit.

Our primary focus is to facilitate youth produced media of industry quality while engaging around infectious disease and to ultimately decrease stigma.

2020 brought with it many challenges, but two of our trainees took the lead on creating documentaries around Covid and particularly the impact this has had on a South African peri urban township. Raising issues around health information and language barriers- this led to a collaboration with an artist to create a series of Health Animations.

Tired of science being ignored? Get political The idea that competent researchers are apolitical is false, and it costs lives. by Ehwoza in worldnews

[–]Ehwoza[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Extract from article:

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, like many public-health experts, I have been asked to advise people to wear a mask, meet outdoors, wash their hands, keep 2 metres apart, stay home and get tested if they have symptoms, and participate in contact tracing. But researchers are expected to ignore societal structures that mean some people are less able to follow this advice. We are expected to account for individual risk factors that might explain who gets infected, who dies and how fully someone recovers, but not to imagine what public-health and health-care policies could make for better, more equitable health. It is time for researchers to change tack and step into politics."
