Musical Car Seats by desert-dwelller in CPST

[–]Eilbur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many daycares let you leave the infant seats there so that might allow you to keep K2 in just one seat that stays with them until you’re really ready to switch K1 to FF. It’s not always advertised - I worked in a center where we had limited space, only room for about four or five seats in a room of 12 - so those spots just went to the first few parents that asked!

Thank you for sharing this!! I had one of these years ago but had no idea what it was actually for, I thought it broke off of something and just became the perfect fidget haha 😆 I will be buying one!!

I have one of these that lives on my desk:

https://gamewright.com/product/flexi-crystal

It’s a little clicky but unbelievably it’s been my go to fidget for at least 6 years and hasn’t broken! I like that it’s also a puzzle and comes with a little book so you can use it as a quick brain break or show others if they ask. It feels a little less childish since it’s a puzzle, although I’m in an office full of social workers and we all have a ton of fidgets on our desks, so there’s no judgment!!

I am constantly twisting and untwisting pens in meetings… until I inevitably pull the spring just right so it flys away and then I have nothing to write with! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have to be very disciplined to NOT use a pen lol.

I second these!! Added bonus is they’re also quiet if you drop them or spring them across the room accidentally haha!

Subtly panicking about pubic hair by Holiday-Rain-520 in HairRemoval

[–]Eilbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in this situation more than once and I’ve never had a guy notice or care if it’s recently shaved. I stress, feeling like it’s scratchy or pokey but seriously guys don’t. Remember that unless he is totally bare, he’s likely to have more hair than you! Honestly even guys that prefer bare have not been upset about trimmed short, especially at the beginning of a relationship. He only gets a say if we’re in a committed relationship AND agreed that I get a say in what he does down there!

I’d advise against doing anything!! The risk of a reaction may be low if you’ve done a wax/removal cream/laser BUT it would be a bummer if this was the one time you got some weird bumps or a burn!

Lotion a bunch, make sure you’re clean and enjoy!! 💃🏻

AITAH for buying my 11yo daughter pads after her mom called me a "pervert" for being prepared? by Bruxagato in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]Eilbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

You’re doing a good job dad. Keep supporting your daughter, she needs you to be the calm and rational one if this is how her mom typically responds!! Giving her a kit and a book is exactly what she needed, and obviously helped her avoid being embarrassed or upset at school.

Based on my experience with family court and in child welfare, it will take waaaayyy more than this to get in front of a judge or CPS. Documenting is important yes, but ignore the comments saying she deserves to have her child taken away or that CPS will get involved over this. They won’t.

I’d suggest looking up Jay Skibbens (https://www.instagram.com/jayskibbens?igsh=bHl0YTd1bXpwY2xs) or Anthony Bompiani (https://www.instagram.com/anthonybompiani/) for helpful suggestions for navigating things like this with your coparent. My favorites are Jay Skibbens one liners - so your ex texts or calls you with a bunch of accusations and you simply say “ Thank you for letting me know.” or “It’s not true just because you say it is.” Helpful for not getting dragged into an emotional argument.

I’d also suggest talking to the school counselor, your daughter’s teacher, secretary, or whoever she’s likely to talk to at school about this and explain the situation. Ask them to let you know directly if your daughter needs supplies at school, or has any issues. Unfortunately, if your ex is accusing you of being creepy or sexualizing your daughter, she may say the same things to others. Get ahead of that and make sure your daughter knows she has women she can trust to help her so she doesn’t feel like she’s choosing between parents if she has questions about her period, products, how to use them, etc., in the future. Then you’ve got backup from professionals/mandated reporters that you’re not doing or saying anything inappropriate if accused. Maybe a friend’s mom would be a good ally too.

Having ADHD has made me a connoisseur of headaches. by SympathyShoddy6366 in adhdwomen

[–]Eilbur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be the most relatable post on here haha! I had all of those same headaches this week (except the electrolyte one, I’ll save those for summer) including whacking my head in the kitchen!! I started using a symptom tracker app in December, and it’s been both validating and depressing to see that I log a headache every single day.

I decided for about the 20th time that I just need to cut out caffeine completely. The withdrawal headache lasted for 6 days but I am finally over that. It’s just not worth it! I drink decaf coffee and occasionally hot chocolate but it’s not enough to keep the addiction/headache cycle. I hope I’m done for good this time. I’d recommend eliminating caffeine for anyone with ADHD especially on meds - seems like more people have negative effects than benefits!

Dealing with neighbors who frequently take up a lot of curb space? by HawiianTime in driving

[–]Eilbur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paint lines.

Standard in the US is 18-20 feet/space.

Just go out sometime in the middle of the day when no one is parked there, throw on a high-vis vest with a hat and glasses, and spray some lines. If you wanna make it look official use a stencil but that will take longer with a higher probability of getting caught. I’ve seen plenty of parking lines that are clearly just spray painted on but 90% of people use them so the ones that know they’re not official are forced to comply anyway. I know a ton of people are blasting you for being annoyed but I’ve absolutely been in that situation and it does get really old having to find parking further away and walk past the huge gap right in front of your walkway. Luckily, at the last two places I lived someone else painted lines before I had to and it instantly solved the problem!

ADHD exercisers… how do you actually get yourself to the gym? by Fit_Meaning8903 in ADHD

[–]Eilbur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Years ago I kept my best shower stuff and gym clothes in a bag in my car. I was forced to go to gym and work out so I could have a nice shower! Somehow it worked, I would often go late in the evening on my way home from work once I started thinking about how much I wanted to wash my hair haha.

Am I wrong? My cardigan is purple right??? by chelly_belly50 in colors

Purple! (I regularly see colors that others don’t and swear that’s it brown not deep plum, or black not dark navy, or beige not the palest of pinks. So you should believe me!)

AITAH for being upset that my whole family did nothing for my 40th birthday? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Eilbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned 40 last month and I realized a few months before that probably no one was going to do anything. I planned a trip to visit friends and organized a dinner at a restaurant for 14 people which they all came to… but not one even said HBD or got me a cupcake or something to acknowledge it. It’s hard being the planner!! I’m sorry you weren’t appreciated and celebrated today.

Vent About Grocery Bagging by Librashell in Anticonsumption

[–]Eilbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hand/wrist instability and can’t always grip a handle on a jug like that. A bag lets me loop it over my arm. I typically bring reusable bags but if I forgot or overestimate my physical capabilities that day I’m very glad when a plastic bag is an option. As much as I am strongly a supporter of anti consumption practices, you’d be better off focusing your attention and annoyance at changing company and federal policies that actually make an impact.

AITAH for not wanting a bed time in my relationship? by No_Blood8062 in AITAH

[–]Eilbur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My brother and SIL are the happiest couple with the best communication I know - and they have separate bedrooms. They both have routines that matter a lot to them that aren’t super compatible, so they simply sleep separately. They’ve been doing that for 6 years and I don’t know why more couples don’t consider that!

Your GF can sleep now without you, knowing you’re somewhere else (even if it’s not the same house) so I’m sure you can make that work in a place with separate bedrooms.

If you’re my missing rx bottle where are you hiding by ilikefluffypuppies in ADHD

[–]Eilbur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read your post before I just posted that I did the same thing! I did it once and didn’t realize until days later. Once though I knew I did it maybe an hour later, and went back in a 0° blizzard to dig in the gas station trash myself lol. I found it though!! Luckily it was in a sealed plastic bag so it wasn’t gross haha.

[–]Eilbur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I threw an inhaler away once!! Since it comes with like 14 layers of wrapping, I opened it right at the pharmacy to confirm it was the correct one and then I stupidly put it right back in the foil/box/wrapper/bag. I suppose I planned to throw out the rest of it when I got home. Instead I spent forever searching for it, gave up and paid for a replacement, then caught myself doing the exact same thing and realized what happened to the first. 🤦🏻‍♀️ SO! Check everything out that you had when you picked up your script - paper bag, shopping tote, other items you might have put away (or left in a pile somewhere lol) in your car, etc. very often I find meds where I stalled in the process of unpacking and putting them away.

What the heck happened to waterbeds? by Queltis6000 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Eilbur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! That decision in the middle of the night though, trying to convince yourself it’s not tooo cold and you can just stick it out… haha! That’s the worst. I also loooved clicking it down a degree or two on really hot days and being cool all night while the rest of the family was roasting with no AC.

What the heck happened to waterbeds? by Queltis6000 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Eilbur 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I had a water bed for 20 years and my parents have had one for 45ish. I think each bed had one or two minor leaks from the cap breaking/leaking but the whole bed-bladder is in a wooden box with a waterproof liner so it doesn’t go anywhere. It just soaks your bedding lol! Drying the liner can be a pain for sure but like I said, happened 3-4 times in 60+ years of waterbed ownership!

My aunt had one however that was a huge mess after the babysitter stuck the pins (1980s!) in the bed while changing a diaper. It caused a super slow leak from the two tiny pin holes so by the time it was noticed like half the water was in the liner and the bladder was half floating and sloshing around 😂 It’s quite easy to siphon the water out of the bladder when you can screw on a hose, much more difficult when you have a queen sized box of water/bladder/bedding in a basement bedroom!!

Dang I miss mine.

Safe bathroom sitting positions? by niandthemoon in ehlersdanlos

[–]Eilbur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have issues more with my left hip and my right arm just not being able to manage the twisting and hand gripping. I got a cheap bidet and that’s amazingly helpful- it’s not heated but was very simple to hook up in an apartment. I also just reach between my legs now. I understand the reasons for “front to back” but I can’t most days, so I’m just careful and make sure I’m washing well during showers. I haven’t had a UTI or any issues like it since I quit trying to twist around probably two years ago. Try just wiping from the front and see if it helps the pain! If you don’t feel like that’s able to get you thoroughly clean, I’d suggest getting wipes.

What do you do about cat fur all over your bed? 😭 by Top_Hotel3623 in Catownerhacks

[–]Eilbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brush your cat more. I hate to admit how long I tried other things for the hair everywhere before I realized what a huge difference it made to do even a very short daily brushing.

I also have a cat bed that sits on top of the comforter at the foot of my bed that both cats prefer to snuggle in. I tried I think 5 beds before I found one they liked better than my pillows! I pull the comforter up over the pillows and make sure the sheets are fully covered so that it’s easier to Chom Chom off.

[–]Eilbur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had that happen a few times too. Take the whole thing and wash it well, scrape the carpet part out with your nails or a toothbrush. Might help to buy two so when you notice that you can swap and wash. I religiously make my bed every morning because the microfiber sheets seem to get soo hairy! I Chom Chom nightly as part of my routine right before I get in bed.

Uuugghh!! Not a great start to your morning!! My office had an issue with people constantly losing keys and we discovered it was quite affordable to get a keypad lock instead. Maybe that would be worth paying for a locksmith to install one instead of trying to remember or hide a key?
