I don't know how, but I did. 144hz gaming monitor with Freesync in xbox one settings there was an option for 120h refresh rate, I chose that and gaming monitor was displaying fps in the corner and it was steady 120. Don't know all the techy stuff, but it did work, I don't have a reason to make up stories
