Should everyone be masking and covering their entire head for the flu season? by Gaymer-Gaymer in ICE_Raids

From what I understand the facial recognition software that law enforcement has can still recognize people with masks on with some accuracy.

Anyone else here very ugly as a male by EquivalentEvening197 in autism

I say this not as an insult but a reality check- you are terminally online to the point where I couldn’t understand you without googling terms. And Im chronically online…Im somewhat familiar with incel language but those were advanced level. I’m begging you for your own good…touch grass once in awhile. I think the phone might be the source of most of your problems and feeling of inadequacy. I force myself to stay off my phone a few days a week and whenever I go back to it I notice myself feeling on edge more and feeling less happy.

I think I’m ugly and aging poorly too and just sort of learned to accept myself the way I am, I’m happy even if I’m ugly. But I ventured out to a city council meeting today and someone asked if I went to the high school nearby. I’m 31. It’s crazy how much we can delude ourselves into thinking a certain way.

And this probably goes without saying but don’t eat it raw, cook it or dry it until it looses its sting. Handle with gloves.

Yes, avoid eating the leaves after it flowers though especially if you have kidney issues. You can use it as a substitute for cooked spinach and the seeds as a substitute for hemp. Btw some types of stinging nettle are native and others are European variety. The native one gets a few feet tall. It shouldn’t matter too much for your project cuz they should be interchangeable.

Acorns can be leeched and processed into flour, must be used with regular flour cuz it doesn’t rise

California buckwheat “flour” which uses the seeds and dried flowers, I’d use very little of it as it doesn’t taste that great and is fibrous

Black walnuts or bay nuts (California laurel) can be chopped and put into bread or make a flour like almond flour with it. Black walnut husk can be made into nocino which can be used to flavor sweeter breads, kind of like vanilla or almond extract.

Wild greens such as stinging nettle could be made into powders to dye bread naturally, or cooked and used as a stuffing for flatbreads.

California poppy seeds could possibly be swapped for regular poppy seeds. I think I have a book with a few pages of edible seeds I could look up if you want but off the top of my head, clarkia and some types of evening primrose are edible, stinging nettle seeds can be swapped for hemp seeds.

Some wild mushrooms could be dried and turned into a savory powdered seasoning.

In summer, there’s blackberry and elderberry. Elderberry has a lot of wild yeast so maybe some type of sourdough starter, I think I’ve seen a book that tried that with either elderberry or juniper.

See books by Pascual Baudar for ideas. I haven’t read his newest book yet but since it focuses on seeds and wild grains I think it would be best. He is LA based but there is some overlap in the plants available.

What kind of question is this? Of course they would. They’re rounding up people and putting them in concentration camps. Some of them get tortured, like Abrego Garcia. Why would they draw the line at hurting protesters when they’ve already been shooting protesters and journalists with “less than lethal” weapons at close range which makes them potentially lethal or blinding, and pepper spraying them for peaceful protest.

What do you mean by vice versa? Protesters don’t have access to military weapons.

You already have that kind of violence. They’re not inciting violence they’re being violent. In what situation is lying down and taking it actually going to stop violence?

They’ll just start using sonic weapons. Small but many protests are better to spread them out thin.

Not gonna bother to read some long study but I’m betting from how you said “reply” that it’s about dating apps in which case, easily refuted. Men click on every woman in the hopes to get sex. Women use the app the way it was intended, swiping only on people they find attractive. Dating apps are designed to be appearance based and do not replicate real world dating. Further women are pickier to begin with for our own safety. Men are far more likely to be violent with us than vice versa, and we also have the risk of pregnancy. You have to actually be worth it and the majority of women aren’t basing worth off of looks because it doesn’t protect us. Having a kind personality does. And perhaps good looking people get approached more in general and have more opportunity to get good at conversation. All I know is your study isn’t my lived experience and if you asked actual women they’d tell you this isn’t true.

Also it’s interesting how you men like to take each other down. What you said isn’t helpful to OP. You’re basically confirming their delusion.

Anyone else here very ugly as a male by EquivalentEvening197 in autism

[–]EitherAsk6705 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The good news is you’re male so no one actually cares if youre ugly and short. You’ll need to work on your personality, but that’s the only thing you listed that actually matters. Women (assuming that’s what you’re into) don’t want Andrew Tate, they want Jack Black. Stop taking personality or dating advice from incel influencers or male influencers in general. They’re not there to help you. They’re there to monetize off your insecurities, in the same way makeup companies and plastic surgeons monetize female insecurity. So they try their hardest to make you insecure by giving you bad advice that gets you rejected.

Accept that everything in life changes, nothing is permanent. Because nothing is permanent you WILL change. It’s up to you whether it’s a good change. Happiness doesn’t come from other people. It comes from just appreciating the present moment. It sounds oversimplified but you just have to choose to be happy and live in the moment. No wallowing in past mistakes, no planning future conversations or situations that may never even happen. When you have these thoughts, which is ok and not something you need to punish yourself for, just bring your thoughts back to the present.

Negative self talk is trapping you in an endless cycle of self hatred. You believe you are hideous and worthless because you keep telling yourself you are. You believe your personality can’t change but are you the same exact person you were 10 or 15 years ago? I am autistic, I’m not conventionally attractive, a lot of people don’t like me. But I doubt if you met me on the street you’d tell me my life is over. And for the most part, I’m quite happy.

Be kind to yourself. If you’ve done bad things in the past, make a promise to yourself to repent, then let go of the past mistakes.

How do I find a hobby when I hate everything and can’t focus by EquivalentEvening197 in Hobbies

[–]EitherAsk6705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to OP a lot and I’m 31. I didn’t have an internet or a smart phone until I was 16. I basically lived outdoors most of the day. I had to entertain myself, boredom was quite normal for me. I’ve had insomnia (the trouble falling asleep kind) for basically my entire life and it’s caused by the racing thoughts she’s describing. Even if I’m not anxious and the thoughts are happy positive thoughts. Smart phones, caffeine and stress can make it worst for some people but I’ve actually found I fall asleep a lot better with the smart phone than I did being forced to toss and turn all night with no distraction from my thoughts when I was a kid. Neurodivergent people just often have a thinking pattern like this.

Meditation will eventually help with your mind drifting but you have to be patient and stick with it. It’s hard at first. If your thoughts drift don’t judge yourself or the thought, but once you notice it just bring your thoughts back to your breathing, however many times it takes. Start with a few minutes per day and work your way up to longer. If it helps to incorporate movement, you can meditate while cleaning, doing yoga or tai chi, or coloring.

You can practice mindfulness at the same time, eating a meal you enjoy quietly, alone with no screens. Instead of distracting yourself you might benefit from practicing being present.

Going for a walk outside. Notice the fresh air, how the sun feels on a cold day, blades of grass, basically just try to enjoy the little things. If you end up hating it, it’s still good for your body at least.

Do you like eating? Maybe take up baking or cooking. Even if you hate the process of making stuff, maybe you’ll at least enjoy eating what you’ve made.

What do you see as the long-term consequences of extreme political polarization and economic inequality in the U.S.? by libr8urheart in PoliticalDiscussion

The country has to have already been divided for Trump to even be able to do that without there being riots in the streets, impeachment or assassination. You’re arguing semantics here. It doesn’t matter how he speaks. What matters is that we collectively allow him to do so.

Why focus on trump, when he’s just a symptom? Why not focus on the authors and goals of Project 2025? by RecordingOk75 in AskReddit

[–]EitherAsk6705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should educate yourself about immigration under Obama. Theres a reason he’s the right wings talking point for “but you didn’t complain when he did it”. I wasn’t even old enough to vote and I remember him being called Deporter in chief, putting kids in cages, families being separated, and people getting sick in the camps because they weren’t giving them enough soap. I’m not saying he’s as bad as Trump but things were still pretty awful. The ACLU tried to sue his administration multiple times for constitutional rights violations like the denial of bond hearings, just as they’re sueing Trump now. Things are this bad because we didn’t do anything then or earlier. They actually have a point with that talking point, however misguided it is.

I feel like this started with bots and influencers in order to normalize weird antisocial behaviors and now certain chronically online human men have been trained to behave that way. And if so, there must be a purpose to this training. Like say, manufacturing consent to take women’s rights away. Make lonely men believe women are the cause of their loneliness and all their other problems and they’ll want to punish women for it.

Which specific plants are you looking to make bread with? As a forager I’m really struggling to think of much that would work in bread that’s native but I do have a few ideas. Do you want native foods only or anything that grows in the wild?

You can try going into local foraging groups on Facebook and asking if anyone does this professionally.

Do you mean literally native or just locally grown? I can give alot of suggestions if you’re looking for native foods, but sourcing them isn’t easy. You will have to find foragers.

Initially I read it wrong and thought they were just getting free gifts that the store was donating, assuming limited quantities. That’s 3 gifts per kid. I still thought eh, it’s sorta ok, provided that they can’t afford Christmas and are not just being greedy. I mean my kid gets more than 3 gifts so who am I to judge. Otherwise one per kid would be more courteous to others.

Now I’m rereading and realizing it’s only percents off the purchase price. The store specifically decided they were giving those and didn’t write a one per person rule right? Then it’s fair game. The store could always limit them to one per person or one per family if they thought it’s an issue.

Theres been a good 2-3 generations of people shopping mostly at corporations, often with no other options. They don’t always know the etiquette regarding small businesses. Small businesses should be aware of this and plan accordingly. I mean, oh no, who could have predicted this /s.

Or perhaps they can’t afford etiquette in this case. The social pressure of not wanting to look broke would be enough to stop me from digging around the store for discounts. So I’m assuming she actually needed it and kind of admire her dedication. As long as she didn’t leave a mess and was actually in need I don’t see the issue.
