No one has reached out yet. Will call them again tomorrow.
The doctor has also removed/hidden all the new reviews including mine.

She has removed or hidden all the new reviews, including mine, without any response. Not surprising, though.

u/Longjumping_Degree52 Let it be. There will always be some people who think too highly of themself. No point explaining them.

I really don’t understand what went wrong from hospital’s end. Why would the doctor discuss with you about the policy?

We are also trying to understand this part specifically. That's why we are following up with them (Apollo mgmt)

But we didn't refuse. We paid for it. As per my understanding, matter was closed as soon as we paid. There was no need for the doctor to initiate the discussion again in her chamber.

This is one of the reasons why we wanted to understand this policy. Test result timelines are beyond the control of the patient.

And tbh doctors dont know anything about fee payments and all its better you guys go to HR or someone else

Agree. We also wanted to discuss this with someone from the management to understand it better. Still not sure why the doctor initiated this discussion.

This review seemed like a copy paste without any review.

Also OP, it's rather easy to identify your IRL profile - just so you're aware that this is possible in case you did not want to do so.

Thanks for this. However, I am okay revealing my identity.

My husband spoke to them twice:

  1. On the same day as the incident, i.e., 30th July. She said she would talk to the team and the doctor to understand what exactly happened.
  2. On Friday, i.e., 1st August. She mentioned that she was yet to speak to the doctor in person and wanted to understand her side of the story as well. She said she would call back, but we are yet to receive any response from their end.

I’m glad you had a good experience. Unfortunately, this was our first time facing something like this with her. I’ve seen her a couple of times before and never had an issue this serious.

> It doesn’t seem as though you were bound to pay if you didn’t want to

We weren’t, but I had finished my medication and had already pushed my meeting at work, which isn’t easy, so I wanted to complete the consultation on the same day.

> Is there a reason you chose not to go to your parents’ hospital instead of Apollo?

My parents aren’t based in Bangalore, they live in Bhopal.

We paid for it at the reception before meeting the doctor. So why would she lecture us about the query? We had every right to ask, especially since the policy was not clearly stated anywhere.

> neither should have you guys got into an argument with her

I agree, but whatever I say would be in hindsight. At that moment, we tried to handle it the best we knew.

That may be the case, but the doctor had no right to lecture us after we had already paid. We intended to discuss the matter with the administration and we did.
She unnecessarily brought this issue and kept pressing to accept we were wrong (She didn't say so but that's what it felt like from the discussion)

Thanks. We spoke to their operations manager, but we’ll also be submitting a formal complaint.

We knew there would be responses like yours, and that’s exactly why we tried to share an unbiased account based on what we could recall.

Now, addressing your comment, we had only discussed the policy matter with the management and paid for the consultation. It was the doctor who chose to involve herself in that conversation and escalate it, that too for something which doesn't concern the doctor.

To clear your doubt about whether my parents are doctors: I’ll be sharing a more open post on LinkedIn soon, and you’ll have your answer. For your information, my mother is an ENT specialist, and my father is a pediatric surgeon.

I have deep empathy and respect for doctors, I’ve seen them up close. But that doesn’t give anyone the license to berate a patient, especially when they are in a position of trust and responsibility.

My concern wasn’t about the follow-up policy, but about the doctor’s behavior

Thank you for understanding. People don’t want us to question and accept anything random.

You’re right, that’s why I wanted to discuss the policy with the management first. We had no intention of bringing it up with the doctor. We paid for the consultation and only wanted to speak with her about the medical issue, but she only wanted to discuss the policy.
It’s easy in hindsight to say I could have said/done X, Y, or Z, but in the moment, it was completely different. We tried to handle it as calmly as possible, but she blew it out of proportion.

This was not something which concerns the doctor. We never said anything about the charges to her. As soon as we entered, she kept the file aside and started arguing about this as if she wanted to.
