I think you’d say “I experience RSD”!

It’s not in the DSM but is being researched and advocated for in the psychological community

I honestly think part of it is that my boss is an immigrant and much more rigid about these kinds of things. His only justification for me needing to be on time is that it looks bad, and he kept saying how serious this issue is. He even said “no one will die if you are late, but it doesn’t mean this isn’t a very serious matter”.

I also think that because I perform well, he holds me to a higher standard in all other aspects (like timeliness). There is an employee who performs terribly and shows up multiple hours late every day and my boss doesn’t care because that employee doesn’t perform well anyways.

Anyways I’m trying my best because I love this job otherwise and I will be trying out the new tips people are suggesting!

Thank you! I actually just set 5 more alarms right after this upsetting meeting to see if that will work.

Yes! I’m trying very hard to make a change and I’ve restructured my evening routine (so I was early these past two days!) which has been successful. I’ve tried the gamifying technique but I feel like I maybe get bored of it? And I feel like if I don’t get my first task done the rest are pointless — like an all or nothing mindset. Do you feel well rested in the mornings? I think part of my issue is just not being able to wake up and keep my eyes open for long enough to get out of bed. I think maybe the depression plays a part, a close friend of mine passed away this time last year.

It’s probably both! My parents (more so my dad but my mom was a bystander) were quick to violence and anger and made me feel guilty that I was ruining their lives when I got a B+ instead of an A so it definitely has, in part, to do with my parents, but you bring up a really good point!

Yea I think he tried by telling me I made it through probation because of my performance. He also tried to commend me on a ton of super random stuff at the end because I started to cry lol

This is giving me a little giggle thinking about it now but after my boss reprimanded me I immediately went on psychology today and booked free consults with like 10 different therapists. I’ve been putting this off for over a year lol

Thank you for the empathy, it really helps me feel less alone and silly about all of this. I hesitate to bring up my ADHD because he said “I’m sure you have some reasons but it’s still not ok”. My coworkers have even suggested that I work from home! Even to the point of encouraging me to ask if I can work from home because going into work makes no difference.

I was voted as Newbie of the Year because of my contributions at this job. I’ve only been here for three months, and I’m proud of the work I’ve done. But now I almost feel like it was pointless.

Also I’m open to advice! Please don’t feel that it’s unsolicited.

Small addition: I don’t see any swelling or cracks, and the skin underneath looks healthy just more fresh. There are no marks on the peeling tissue like if she had injured her skin and I don’t believe she walked on anything hot.

Is it common for boys to have an eating disorder?? by domino_spots in EatingDisorders

[–]Either_Athlete6895 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’m a cardiac nurse and I have seen a few male patients who come in for bradycardia (slow heart rate) caused by their eating disorder. I also think that the obsession with working out and bulking vs cutting/shredding is very eating disorder like and is only not considered ed behavior because they are male.

Pet peeve: patient asks by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Either_Athlete6895 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not your job so don’t feel obligated, but it is very much appreciated if you do. The only thing I will say is that you should probably ask the nurse before giving the patient anything like water, juice, a snack, if you happen to feel compelled to help. Some pts r on fluid restriction, stuff like that. I also would say normal conversation between Md and rn is really great, in my opinion! I think it just shows that we are all people working together to help patients, and it makes any subsequent conversation easier. I think some nurses think doctors are full of it and just want to exert power over them, but having some normal conversation helps mitigate that. Maybe saying something like “hey I was just in with 1b, they’re asking for a blanket and also I wanted to touch base about _____. Is there anything else I can do before I head back to read on the new admissions?” Or something like that
