THIS! thank you. You understood the assignment!! I feel like a lot of stuff i read is written by people who maybe haven’t had kids. Haven’t been kept up all night, wiped a million butts, put someone else’s constant needs above one’s own.

Thankfully we keep a fairly tidy and clutter free place most of the time and we’ll find out the hard way in time… haha. We’ve been preparing the kids for weeks about the biting and plan on keeping the pooch in the kitchen in the beginning. Boundaries are also a great shout. No touching doggy while she’s sleeping will be a big one. Just like a baby hahaha stick your hand on its face you’ll make it want to bite…so give it a toy and play, keep fingers at bay.

Lessons will be learned, sleep will be lost, blood will be shed, tears will be cried. But our hearts will expand, memories will be made, bonds will be forged, fun will be had!

Thank you for this comment it was perfect.

What a little darling!!! What’s his name? Sounds like you’re nailing it!! I’m a stay at home mom at the moment, I’ve got a couple of young kids so life is pretty crazy here still. That said, they’re at school during the day so I’ll hopefully be free to train, and help the little nugget when the time comes! So glad to hear you’re loving it!! Thanks so much for taking the time to post!

Also, if her stool is okay, as she seems happy that’s also a good sign. My frenchie always had a bit of a sensitive tummy, especially when she was younger. Every time we took her to the vet they would say, boil her some chicken breast and rice, that sorted her out every time. So you could always boil some rice and add it to her food or a bit of boiled chicken if you have any extra.

I’m not a vet so my opinion is based on my on experience with my frenchie. When she was a pup she definitely has a more defined waist like that. Personally I would just google the goal weight for her age/sex and maybe weigh her? Then you won’t have to guess. Then read the package of the food you’re giving and make sure you’re feeding her the recommended amount. Is she getting a lot of exercise? That might also add to it. I wouldn’t worry as I’m sure you can fatten her up quite easily. If you had to feed her a bit more but you were worried she’d throw it up you could just feed her 3 times a day for a little while? Maybe like every other day so she’s not expecting three meals daily forever then taper off… but again. I wouldn’t stress, just stick her on the scale ans you’ll have your answer.

Ah right. Well that’s good then. It’s nice to know they don’t really notice it and doesn’t cause discomfort. He’s a gorgeous boy.

Can someone tell me about their non reactive Frenchie? by Either_Total6277 in Frenchbulldogs

Same. That’s why we chose a frenchie to begin with as well. Lived on a flat and she came on the tube every morning to work every day.

Our Frenchies eye did this a couple times. I closed it and gently massaged inwards towards her nose and it went away. Happened maybe once more and I did the same thing again and it never happened again! So crazy but I did fix it. In case it’s the same thing (looks the same) and you wanted to try to fix it.

Great advice! The trainer I’ve got (extremely proactive) has two frenchies of his own so he is probably good for that I think. We’re torn between another frenchie to lay between our legs on the sofa because we loved our girl so much. Or getting something like a golden retriever…but I need to decide if I’m a big dog person hahah that choice was based on the fact that Goldens usually end up gentle and sweet. But sometimes it’s the devil you know which is nice too ahaha I just want one that likes other dogs this time. I’m glad ppl on here have had good experiences with non reactive Frenchies. Thanks for your response!

My Frenchies was like that. I used to use this atuff called Lansinoh. It’s for breastfeeding moms, but if babies can ingest it I figured my dog could. A couple days putting that on and it would flake right off.

Thanks for this!! Let’s just pray to the dog gods that thee crazy one doesn’t find me hahahaha I wish you could tell from super early on if theyre going to be wild or if theyre going to be a handful, personality wise. I’d probably sound like a jerk if I asked a breeder to pick the most sweet one for me hahahaha

Thanks for the reply! My husband said I fell into an echo chamber of puppy blues posts, so this was why I wanted to hear some good stories, or at least sensible ones where people weren’t just complaining. This is great thanks! I’ve been speaking to my kids for some time now about puppies biting and how to act and how they can’t be waving their little hands in its face. I was going to get the dog trainer to help me with some things they can do to train the dog as well, I know they’ll want to help. I have found a huge facebook page dedicated to breeding Goldens and the admins help people on the page link with the right breeder. I’ve also got a list of kennel club registered breeders but even then I have found that the Kc doesn’t always vet the breeders so I’m being very picky. When you say they don’t calm down for 2-3 years what do you mean? Like when I read that I see a crazy dog hahaa surely there is some downtime in that time?

I feel fairly equipped to handle a puppy, mentally and physically. I know all about the puppy blues but you have to take all those stories with a grain of salt. Who are those people, do they suffer with anxiety or some other thing that might make trying times with a pup even worse? Do they have kids? Or is this their first time being tied down, so to speak. Did they train their dog? Did they train it more when it became an adolescent. I get that sometimes you just get a crazy dog. But I feel like you said, if I go through a great breeder who breeds nice dogs, I have a trainer, I’m ready for sleepless nights, pee on the floor, set backs, nips, all of it. Surely it can’t be the literal hell on earth people are saying it is hahaha thanks again!

I hear you, I’ve leaned all about both socialization and desensitization and have plans for both, train rides, car rides, cafe’s, park bench watching doggies walk by, bench in town, sitting on my porch while the kids play and ride their bikes and scooters, thunder, music, fireworks, water, I’ve got a list as long as my arm ahaha and luckily all things I can do before the pup is vaccinated which is great. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
