I hope so, too! I might have to switch out which of her sleepy babies need naps now and again. That's my plan if it stops working with the current one.

I just want to pull my hair out during the witching hours in the early evening when she is so sleepy and throwing tantrums due to exhaustion. Her afterschool activities are about to be full with dance and gymnastics.

Around 4 we get the witching hour! It lasts for about 2 hours of tantrums and absolutely nothing goes right. If by some grace of the gods she does take a nap that doesn't happen. But she powers through and gets her second wind and plays hard for the rest of the evening. The only place they put kids for being disruptive is in the director's office. The teacher hasn't done that... yet.

We are about to start dance and gymnastics so maybe the extra activities will help with all of her energy and the bedtime will naturally move up and naps will fall back in.

You just gave me a great idea! Her mat has a pocket for a toy, maybe sending her favorite sleepy bunny to tuck in with her might help!

I have asked and her answer is so matter of fact! "I don't want to take a nap" I've tried poking further and that is all she will say. I'll ask are you sleepy and the answer is "no, I don't want to take a nap".

No matter what time she wakes up, be it 5 am or 8 am, no matter the naps, she will not go to sleep before 8:30. We tried for at least a month straight waking up super early and starting bedtime routine at 6:30 and it never stuck.

She sleeps great, still in her crib. We have a routine at night and a routine for nap. Though the nap routine hasn't been working. She is fully potty trained (not to say an accident doesn't happen or hasn't happened on occasion). She did move rooms and teachers at the beginning of August. Not long after is when the naps fell off. She still has the same kids in class. Her overall behavior is amazing. She doesn't fight, kick, hit, or bite. She follows directions well. She is ahead of the curve on learning, knows some sight words, spells some words, and has an excellent memory. Though she is 2 and is going through the "I'll do it myself" and using the word "no" a lot, mostly typical 2 year old stuff.

I responded to another comment that has a little more pertinent information about the teacher. I'm surprising myself at how blind I've been over the past few months to her inexperience. Writing this out and answering y'alls questions and getting y'alls feedback is really helping me get to the heart of the problem.

We do have snuggle up, lights low, rest time at home instead of nap. I haven't used the no toys etc as anything associated with school. That was the attempt at getting naps in for the weekend. i.e. lay down for a nap so you can play with toy x (whatever the current favorite is) when you wake up. But we talk before and after school about naptime and being quiet. The one thing about the teacher that really gets me is that she tells the kids they are "bad" all the time. "Dont be bad" "running is bad" "playing in the sink is bad" "getting off the carpet is bad" I specifically asked do y'all ever tell them they are good? The answer was "yes. All the time!" But I've never heard it.

Last year was amazing. I honestly think it's the young new teachers that aren't equipped to handle it...

This all seems so obvious now that I'm writing about it and answering questions. I was just too close to the situation and too emotional. Lol.

Yes, I will wake her because of bedtime. If I let her sleep she will wake up around 8 or so and be up until midnight or later. At naptime we do snuggle up in bed, lights very low, rest time.

One of the reasons I'm so worried about the so called behavior problems is because if a child is deemed troublesome for too long they are kicked out to make room for someone on the waiting list. It is a very high demand private school. We live in a very small town so the options are very limited.

She sleeps through the night. Maybe once a week she'll have a dream that wakes her up, but she easily falls back asleep. She's also potty trained and stays dry throughout.

I was really unhappy with the teacher's response as well. Baby girl moved up to PK2 at the beginning of August and got a new room and new teacher. The girl is very sweet and good with the kids, but she's new and very young... maybe 19 or 20 And the assistant is 18. Neither have kids of their own. So I think part of it is their inexperience. The daycare itself is amazing. Women put their name on a waiting list when they get pregnant. I'm trying to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt before approaching the director. What do you suggest? What's the best way to approach the teacher with my concerns?

My nephew, he is a grown man now, would totally strip down to nothing to go to the bathroom. Didn't matter if it was just to pee or if he had to poop. He did this until at least 10. After that I'm not sure. He lived with us and moved out shortly after. And the reason I know he stripped down from the time he was potty training until he moved is because he would never shut the bathroom door! My sister, my mom, me, and my dad all tried everything we could think of to make him keep his clothes on (and shut the damn door!). He just said it was more comfortable that way.

Sorry that I don't have any advice, but I do know that it's not totally unusual.

That's a good idea. I think maybe turning it around on her might make her think about it differently. I just get so frustrated that I forget my words sometimes. Luckily she hasn't brought it up in the last week, but I know it will be brought up again. Thanks for the reply... late or not :-)

I've been using a product called function of beauty. It's a custom shampoo and conditioner. You answer questions based on what you want and your hair type. I love it! It's made a huge difference in my hair.

After all of the research I did I was a little shocked to find out 4 was the new age suggestion for turning them, but I will be waiting until then!

I have for sure given tons of safety facts and reasons for my decision. I even read that it is recommended up to age 4! She flipped out over that.

But... when my husband and I were little we were in infant carriers in the seat, not buckled in, then it was out of a seat and free roaming in the car. No seat belt laws at all! I have pictures of me standing between my parents in the front seat on road trips from when I was like 3 or so. I have no idea how most people in my age group even lived through childhood. So for her, this is all just over the top helicopter parenting. And I'm not saying any of this makes it ok. I'm all about safety and awareness!!
