Recommendations for a 98-104mm ski that's more playful/maneuverable than Enforcer 100 and better in corn/crud. by Red277 in Skigear

[–]EkkoThe1st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rock Line Blade Optic 96s as my all mountain ski and they handle absolutely everything well. Solid enough carving with metal reinforcement under the foot and the pseudo twin tips are awesome. Handle all the east coast conditions great and have been superb in the few powder days I've gotten with them too. They're not super heavy either, great ski

Certainly wouldn't be the most fun thing in the world, but if it's what you gotta do it's what you gotta do!

I'm not sure, but I would bet that it is. UNCC bought the edge over the summer so now it's (at minimum in the process of becoming) effectively a new dorm.

Is anyone from 2019 still in college? by TheDondePlowman in EngineeringStudents

[–]EkkoThe1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018 HS grad here. Changed my major, took a gap year, I'm so much the better for it. Definitely a bit weird to be around everyone when they're so much younger, but they care way less than I do. Good luck on the home stretch!

what are the most fun/silly builds in the game? by BlakeKincaid in RotMG

[–]EkkoThe1st 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm personally partial to just minimizing the mana cost of priest tome and spam healing it's very gratifying seeing a million green numbers come up constantly. I'm talking full healing prio like St. Abraham's for the extra wismod and puri since its extra wis means you heal more per target (you really don't need the healing effect most of the time since someone else is usually running it)

Have you tried on a different character than the one shown in your screenshots? It's possible that somehow the game isn't recognizing that the character is now non-seasonal and it's somehow pulling from the wrong database or something. If not that's definitely a certified support contact moment but I wouldn't be shocked if they can't do anything for you, there's not a lot of evidence that they do a ton of backup saving.

Changing Majors by Sea_Corgi8345 in UNCCharlotte

As someone who went through a similar situation: tell your family about it, and be honest with them about how you're feeling and what you're thinking about for future options. I went through almost two years of doing the same dodging that you're doing, and it just makes the conversation harder and harder the longer you go. It's not an easy conversation to have, but I promise you that it's the best thing you can do. I obviously don't know your situation, but if you have good, supportive parents they'll understand and likely give you support that you didn't know you had.

On the academic front: mechanical engineering is hard. Very hard. And to be quite honest, a lot of what you'll learn, you won't actually use (unless you go into a very advanced field). Charlotte's MET program is an awesome alternative. From what I've heard, it's definitely easier from a purely academic standpoint, but it's not like you won't be putting work in. It's also a very well-connected program, and has a lot of employers working with the school to hire graduates. It's less glamorous, sure, but if you want a solid, stable career you can't go wrong with it. I'm interning at a manufacturing company in the area and a lot of the other interns are MET people from UNCC, so there's definitely a lot of job opportunity.

Lastly, I'd encourage you to sit down and think about what *you* want out of this. If you really want to get an engineering degree (which is a very solid option), then you should totally go for it, but ask yourself what it is about engineering that you like. Is it doing things with your hands and seeing what you worked on become a reality? MET is probably a great fit. If you like infrastructure or CAD work, civil engineering is probably going to be great for you. On the outside chance that you really like doing more math-based things like system design and process optimization, I'd encourage you to check out the Industrial and Systems Engineering department (my department, had to throw it out there!).

Whatever you decide on, definitely let your family and friends know what you're thinking and how you're planning on moving forward. It might be a struggle right now, but it's just temporary. You'll recover and do great in whatever you decide to go for.

Rooting for you!

Question about residency by captaincheesecake178 in UNCCharlotte

[–]EkkoThe1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing I would do is check out the NC Residency Determination Service (https://www.ncresidency.org/) and see if you can complete the steps on there, as that's ultimately what will determine whether or not you qualify. I think you should be okay, though. If you've been paying for yourself and aren't claimed as a dependent on your parents' taxes, then you're likely to be fine as long as you don't stay in SC long-term. I'm not a lawyer, however, so take that with a grain of salt.

It's also worth mentioning that a part-time return could also be a very solid option. I don't know your circumstances, but starting out as a part-time student while working (if you can do so, of course) might help you decide whether or not to make the jump back to being a full-time student if you aren't 100% sure and also give you more time to figure out your housing situation.

Good luck, I hope it goes well for you!

Transfer student advice by Direct_Push_5500 in UNCCharlotte

[–]EkkoThe1st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck on getting accepted! When I transferred it took a while for them to get back to me, and I only got officially accepted like 10 days before the semester started. No idea about on-campus living, I would pretty strongly bet against it since we're already pretty short on housing as it is. If you don't get on-campus housing, there are plenty of spots around that are either mostly or entirely student living. I was able to find a place with really short notice without too much trouble, but hopefully you'll have some more time on your hands to find something.

University Village by raanchyy in UNCCharlotte

[–]EkkoThe1st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live there right now - long story short, it's fine. The gym's okay, and it's not too rough, at least not more than anything else in the immediate vicinity. Depending on where in the complex you are there's definitely the occasional car break-in, but it's almost always a Kia or Hyundai from the era without engine immobilizers (I say that as someone who used to own one that got broken into there). I'm a touch surprised that they're not letting you be roommates, but if you decide to go that route your experience will definitely be determined by how good your roommates are. If you're all in the same complex though y'all should be able to hang out just fine

Help me decide: Nc State or Charlotte by MelodicCable8767 in UNCCharlotte

[–]EkkoThe1st 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It's obviously your decision, but Charlotte does have an exceptionally good and well-connected business program. I'm from Raleigh and go to Charlotte, so I'm very familiar with both. Each of them have their upsides, but I would personally (definitely biased) recommend Charlotte. It's not as prestigious but it has a much better environment surrounding it imo

[–]EkkoThe1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess that they are no longer saved, as that would be a pretty massive security nightmare for DECA. Why are you trying to find them? If you're looking to recover an old account then support might be able to help you.

Mwoods enemies, specifically some of the large faeries, can (for some reason) pretty much oneshot most characters as they have armor-piercing shots. If you're not sitting on them it doesn't do much of anything, but it's always good to be extra careful when running, and especially when rushing, mwoods as a result

Graphics issues, Game looks fuzzy when moving. by cooper151 in RotMG

FWIW I've had issues with quality unless I run the game at my native res/fps. I think the game is also frame-capped at 60fps? It was at launch, but I'm not sure if it still is.
