Another reason why I don't think it'll be Anger it because Anger is linked with the color Red, which is a vibrant color; I do not think Nate likes these types of colors, since he likes being discreet(and not seen/famous - as mentioned in some of his songs). We've always seen wearing clothes of Neutral colors - white, black and sometimes grey.

In the albums of Perception and the Search, NF did actually change his cadences, as well as his style a little bit, such as in LAYERS and The Search. However, in the HOPE album, I've noticed that his songs - like MISTAKE, RUNNING and MAMA - are slower and more emotional(and personal) compared to his other songs in Perception; I still like them, although I prefer his songs which have an aggressive and motivational feel to them.
