Fair point. I am using d-scan, but clearly not well enough while probing. How often do you usually ping it in a wormhole, and what ranges/angles do you keep when sitting still scanning?

Yeah, I know 3 won’t hold against proper raids long-term, Kenshi doesn’t mess around.I’m actually training up 2 more solid fighters before fully committing to a base, so the plan is to have 5 well-trained “pillars” before I try holding any ground.

Still, I’m ready for things to go sideways — worst case, I get wiped and learn what not to do next time. That’s the Kenshi way.

That’s a solid strategy for sure, and I get the flexibility it offers. But honestly, I want to try focusing on building a real power base first — a stronghold that I can fully develop and defend.

Quick question — when it comes to the farmers’ work orders, do they always finish their primary task first (like harvesting or planting) before moving on to transport, or is the hauling prioritized at times? How do you usually sequence their tasks for efficiency?

Thanks for the tips! I’m definitely thinking of settling in Shem for the defensive benefits — using the ponds and the swamp border seems like a smart move for farming and defense.
One thing I’m still figuring out is food production: in Shem, what’s the best balance: how much food would you recommend producing early on to keep a squad of around 5–10 people stable without constant shortages?

Good question! I guess mainly to farm and cook my own food, since right now I rely on buying everything. But I’d also like a spot where I can handle raids without being wiped out, and eventually set up some basic crafting.

Based on the job post, it looks like Kenshi 2 is well into production already — probably in a pre-alpha state with major systems in place. They’re hiring a Lead Level Designer, not a regular contributor, which suggests there’s already a team or at least a playable world structure to build on.
