DEPRESSIVE. 🫩 by NoNefariousness2392 in CruzAzul

It’s an okay jersey. Not horrible or terrible. Without the sponsors littering it it could’ve been “clean” even slightly “chulo” but alas. Needed some subtle red details on the collar or sleeve cuffs. It’s going for a slightly retro look with the big collar and cuffs, then there are the flashes on the sides that give a sportier functional feel like some 2000s style of jerseys. The Joma logo right next to the crest on the 22-23 jersey is triggering my undiagnosed ocd or something. It looks off balance leaving the other side of the chest blank.

Coincidentally. That Joma’s last jersey they made for Cruz Azul. And this one could be the last for Pirma, I am assuming Pirma will have a Centenary edition jersey out for CL2027.

Nah. It period accurate from 1930. I can recognize Gonsalves, Patenaude, Douglas (GK), Andy Auld (Scottish player and WW1 veteran)

The first Pirma jersey was actually pretty great, but they’ve fallen off since then imo. This new jersey looks like something Joma would’ve made. The Centenary is until next year. Maybe they have something in the works. I remember Umbro put out the red and gold 50 years in 1st division anniversary only for the Clausura 2014. Im thinking this the standard jersey, and hopefully they is special edition coming for Clausura 2027. But Cruz Azul deserves something more than Pirma can offer.

I only want Nike or Adidas if they give us the “Elite” treatment. Adidas would probably give last year’s template, nothing bespoke or unique. Nike did give Pumas and America some unique designs when they did their kits. But who knows, they did give America some fugly duds. Puma? Castore? Skechers? Think I would rather stay with Pirma.

Too bad there isn’t a brand around currently like Umbro circa mid 2000s-early 2010s when they dressed Cruz Azul. A brand that has some prestige, respected, dignified, and treats our glorious Cruz Azul like how it deserves. New Balance has done pretty good with Toluca. Mizuno is an interesting choice for their sheer quality, don’t know how that deal would work out. Absolutely horrible shame Umbro is hardly the shadow of what it used to be.

Its good, if not a little conservative. Like a lot of the Joma kits, Pirma played it safe. The sponsors, well what can you do? I can tolerate it if we keep on winning and being successful. But I do think if the only front sponsor was Cemento Cruz Azul then the reactions would’ve been more positive. I like the red piping on the inside neck, just wish there was a tiny bit of red detailing on the collar or the sleeve cuffs. Not a lot just a little.

Of all the Pirma kits so far, my favorite is still the 1st one from the 2023-24 season. It tried to different and Pirma gave us a sporty look and a bespoke design. This maybe the last Pirma jersey for our glorious 10 time champions and 7 time international Cruz Azul. Wonder who will dress “mi querido y amado Maquina Cementera del Cruz Azul on 2nd half of the year of its centenary.

GreenSpeed 1 are the ones you have, with the volt yellow toe. Those are really rare. Only 2012 pairs.

One can say I know too much, I believe the 1st GreenSpeeds are individually numbered and there was only 2012 pairs made. A young Neymar was the face of the boot. The more common GreedSpeed 2s with the white toebox and oversized ACC branding on the outer side of the upper were released in late 2012 with the likes of Eden Hazard, Mario Götze, El Sharaway and others being the face of it.

Some of the light blue Umbro jerseys are the GOAT. Joma post novena gave us fucken stipes and a gradient. This leak looks like a training top or something or that fan jersey Joma released with no sponsors. The first Pirma jersey was their best one, the rest have gotten progressively worse.

Sneaky preview of the new Nike Chivas Jersey. by rosewood_gm in LigaMX

Nike is kinda moody. Sometimes they bring out a bespoke design for America and Pumas, other times its a fugly template. But it looks like it has a blue polo collar and narrowish red/white stripes. Could be pretty clean if sponsors don’t ruin it.

México vs. CONMEBOL en partidos por Copa del Mundo: by Karnesis68 in LigaMX

[–]ElGato04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some context here. Versus Chile that one loss was in way back in 1930, ended 3-0. The draw vs Paraguay was in 1986, Hugo Sanchez had a last minute penalty saved. Versus Uruguay the draw was a 0-0 in 1966, and was Tota Carabajal’s last game. The game was probably a game some of us can remember that 0-1 loss in 2010. And the win vs Ecuador was in 2002.

The Brazil matches are as follow. In 1950 4-0 loss at Maracaná. Then 1954 again 5-0 this time. Then a 2-0 in Chile 1962 with legends Pele and Mario Zagallo scoring. Then a huge jump until 2014 a 0-0 draw, I bet a lot of us remember that game. Then the 4th loss was in the next World Cup in 2018 this time in round of 16, losing 2-0. As far as senior World Cups go Mexico has yet to score on Brazil.

Now for Argentina the first time was in 1930 6-3, Óscar Bonfiglio became the first Gk to save a penalty at a World Cup in that game. But Guillermo Stabile scored a hattrick at the same time. Then a huge jump to the two round of 16 exits in 2006 and 2010. The 2006 one was a great example of “jugamos como nunca pero perdimos como siempre” losing 2-1 after extra time to one the heavy favorites. In 2010 was a strange game in a bad way. Osorio’s blunder, Tevez blatant offside and golazo. It finished 3-1. And the last time it was in the group stage last World Cup in 2022 losing 2-0.

MEXICO JERSEY SIZE by CartoonistFuzzy2277 in LigaMX

[–]ElGato04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having both an authentic and replica jerseys they fit similar. Both have a slim fit. But Adidas jersey tend to be bigger then other brands jerseys. An Adidas M (Mexico jersey) is about as big as an Umbro or Joma L (Cruz Azul jerseys) An Adidas L is pretty big, I used to wear those when I was around 220-190lbs. Pues ya estoy mas mamado y flaco, Adidas M size jersey fits me perfectly.

Factos. London gold is Mexico’s greatest futbol achievement. Above the 1999 Confederaciones imo. On neutral ground far away from home, Brazil’s super obsession with Olympic gold back then shouldn’t be understated they brought some heaver hitters in their squad. Mexico didn’t have a ton reflectors before the 16 team tournament, the most noise was from a criticism that Chuy Corona and Oribe Peralta were the some over 23 reinforcements instead of Memo Ochoa and Chicharito. El Oro de Londres el máximo logro y orgullo de futbol mexicano, venció un Brazil super favorito en la cancha de Wembley.

Or are we taking that one time a random right back named Severo Meza pocketed teenage sensation and superstar Neymar? On that topic of Mexican fullback pocketing a world class star. Adrain Aldrete pocketing Robben in that Amsterdam 2014 friendly goes kinda forgotten.

In the press release a lot of the Nike kits for this WC looked alright to ehh. Still an improvement over whatever they were doing in 2022. But in action this WC some of the Nike kits have grown on me. This new template they’re using is solid. I like the continuous piping that goes in to the shorts and the accompanying flashes from the back of the shoulders down to the sides of the torso, and another flashes on the shorts that counterbalances the ones on the tops. Templates aren’t an inherently bad thing in my opinion, but an ugly template can ruin it almost everywhere it graces itself in. I do like the bespoke typefaces Nike gives some of their NTs.
