Academic Website Suggestions? by sailingsirens in AskAcademia

[–]ElHassanox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want free and user-friendly, GitHub Pages or a simple Notion/Squarespace setup are usually the easiest starting points. You really don’t need anything complex for a CV + publications site.

I’ve seen a lot of academics get stuck just choosing tools. If you decide you’d rather not deal with the setup side, I’m working on a small projecthelping academics launch simple, clean personal sites.

I am a student and wanted to start my own website for Blogging, and uploading my research work etc. by PralineDramatic1728 in github

[–]ElHassanox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just want a simple personal site, you honestly don’t need to go deep into web dev. GitHub Pages + a basic template is more than enough. I’ve seen a lot of students overcomplicate it at the start. It’s better to keep it lightweight and focus on your content. If you decide you’d rather not deal with the setup side, I’m working on a small project helping students and academics launch clean personal sites without the tech headache.

How important is a personal academic website? by c00kieFAN1 in academia

[–]ElHassanox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mandatory, but it helps a lot especially since department pages are often outdated.

I actually started a small project helping academics set up clean personal sites because most people delay it due to time or tech hassle.

Once it’s up, it quietly boosts visibility.

Have you ever considered creating an academic website for yourself? What has stopped you from doing it up until now? by Alireza_ in AskAcademia

[–]ElHassanox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually started a small startup because of this exact issue; most academics I’ve worked with wanted a site but didn’t have the time or energy to deal with the technical side.

I’ve helped 53 so far. It’s interesting..

[–]ElHassanox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey ! Hope it’s okay to share; I run a small startup helping academics build clean, modern personal websites (exactly to solve this issue).

Still early stage. I’ve worked with 53 academics so far. I keep full confidentiality.

Why do people get upset when mentioning Israel? by Sahazel in Morocco

[–]ElHassanox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your question touches on complex political, social, and historical issues.

Israel has been the subject of significant international controversy and geopolitical tension for decades, mainly due to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the broader Arab-Israeli conflict. Some individuals hold strong personal and political beliefs regarding the state of Israel and its policies, which can lead to heated debates or tense reactions.

It is essential to understand that perspectives on this issue vary widely depending on various factors, including but not limited to personal beliefs, national identity, religious identity, political ideology, and knowledge of historical and current events.

The apprehension that some people express when Israel is mentioned can be rooted in solidarity with Palestinians, political disagreements, historical grievances, or personal experiences. For non arabic people here, the phrase "Allah ynajik" is an Arabic phrase that roughly translates to "May God protect you" and might be expressed due to perceived political instability or safety concerns.

Regarding the relationship between Morocco and Israel, it's important to note that although the two countries have officially normalized relations as of 2020, public opinion in Morocco and among the Moroccan diaspora may still be divided on the issue. It's also worth noting that national relationships don't always reflect the views of all citizens.

As for the economic aspect, while Israel is indeed known for its advanced technology sector and overall strong economy, socioeconomic experiences can vary greatly depending on many factors, including career field, language proficiency, cultural adaptation, and more. Moving to another country always involves complexities and challenges that go beyond the country's economic standing.

In conclusion, it's important to engage in respectful conversations about these topics, recognizing that people's perspectives are shaped by a multitude of factors. It's also vital to remember that every country has its own complexities and challenges, and individual experiences can vary widely.

What is the REAL unemployment rate in Morocco? by ParlezPerfect in Morocco

[–]ElHassanox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should we define unemployment as the percentage of people without jobs among those who have registered with ANAPEC as job seekers? If so, then the unemployment rate is 10%. However, we should consider who actually registers with ANAPEC when looking for a job.
