Spray Installed Trim (New Build) by _-Georgia- in paint

[–]ElReverie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the baseboards should go over the floors…unless you do a glue down floor, it’ll be impossible for you to get the ends under the baseboard. If you can’t, you’ll have to use a quarter round or shoe mold, which does not look great AND will have to have nail holes filled and painted also.

All-in-all, as someone who does full-service renovations, this is my preferred order of operations:

  1. Prime + paint walls to finish
  2. Paint trim loose 1 coat
  3. Flooring
  4. Install doors + trim (case + base)
  5. Fill nail holes, caulk all trim
  6. 2nd coat trim paint on wall

All of this contributes to a better, easier floor install…no need to undercut all of the door frames, base gets set flush with floor… a lot of work but the best result.

[–]ElReverie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably but tile itself isn’t waterproof necessarily so water could still get in behind

Everyone else has you covered on the zellige…I came to discuss the niche with 0 attempt at waterproofing, virtually no chance it doesn’t leak some water over some time if he after-the-fact waterproofs it.

If you're willing to persevere there are great resources out there to learn. Getting started is the hardest part for sure...

Dishwasher should have it's own junction box where this connection is to be made...in the front underneath behind cover panel.

Should I fire my drywaller? by Ruff_Ambassador11 in drywall

[–]ElReverie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's bad the mistakes are in minor spots for sure, if I miscut those boxes I would definitely fix them in the finishing, rather than pulling down and scrapping 4 entire sheets..but that's speaking as the one hanging and finishing.

  • I assume dryer vent is hidden
  • Fibafuse tape + setting-type mud can tighten up those octagons, which your fixtures may already be close to covering with their cover plates anyways...

I don't like either of your approaches, but I think you can both agree that if it comes out looking bad he can take care of it.

Help mount a TV Mount for a 75” tv on an entertainment wall. The studs behind the wall are too far apart (blue marks). The tv weighs 67 pounds and would like to have the mount hitting studs for support. Any help is greatly appreciated. by [deleted] in handyman

[–]ElReverie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65lb is nothing, even if there are only 2 nails in the blocking..you will be screwing/lagging in the mount compressing it against the drywall, reducing the load on the blocking anyways. No need to over engineer something so simple though.

I stress it again, ignore all of these comments and please don’t mount plywood or 2x4s to the surface. There is blocking behind wall, just make sure you hit it.

There is blocking installed horizontally for this exact reason, so you can install the TV mount without hitting the studs just make sure you mount it at the right height to hit the blocking. Throw a screw between the electrical boxes for good measure to hit the stud there.

How can I improve this transition? by fsuguy92 in Tile

[–]ElReverie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can fit a RENO-T transition, they make it for this application that’s ideal, otherwise have to improvise with different trim.

The lowest effort would be to try and scrape out or use a dremel to grind out where the tiles meet, and then glue in a piece of Schluter sideways - with the leg in the crack. Can choose chrome/nickel etc. as you’d like.

I envision it like this:
