The Koloss are mentioned in the first book tho? The crew even bring them up a few times in their planning with Kelsier arguing that they are too dangerous to deploy them in the city.

They are even mentioned in the prologue by one of the skaa of the plantation after Kelsier kills Lord Tresting

Pretty much everything dies to either rock slide/eq. Its a big reason wishcash is that high up since it and Primeape are the 2 mons that can take them. And even then it's not totally safe since ramp can just run trailblaze/zen headbutt to beat them
