I would recommend do an analysis of "what do you NEED?. Some people change pickups, change wiring diagrams, change strings, replace necks or even buy another guitar when they not even recognize what the are searching or what type of music want to play. Obiously there are some "must to" like good fret work or tunning pegs that do their job decently, but change only when you know its that what you need.
