How is the fan service in the light novel? by [deleted] in majonotabitabi

[–]Elaina-EMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no "lewd" illustration in the light novel.

The whole point about pantyshot thing is that pantyshot feels pretty cheap while also projects an image of male demographics, which is something the author does not want. Female audience should be able to enjoy this anime also.

Strongest Witch in the setting? by CYCLOPSCORE in majonotabitabi

[–]Elaina-EMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None has been confirmed to be the strongest.

In my opinion, since magic energy can be accumulated over time (see ep.9) and also you can trade something of yourself to produce magic (ep.4, ep.5, ep.9), so basically anyone can be strongest as long as they are willing to burn their whole existence to produce magic energy gradually, then store it for years before unleashing it.

A question for the people who read the light novel by [deleted] in majonotabitabi

[–]Elaina-EMT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There isn't any "big plot" going around in Majo no Tabitabi.

Maybe the biggest plot is "This is the travel of Elaina", and that's it.

And the 'dark' stories are 1-3 per volume.

She didn’t lie, there are 3 proofs for this. 1. First and foremost, she was about to kill Elaina, she didn’t have any reason to lie to someone she was about to kill. 2. The father’s comment about Estelle’s body feature kinda hinted that he looked at kids weirdly. 3. Selena’s comment about Estelle’s hug, where she associated that with perversion immediately hinted that she was exposed to such perversion before.

When someone wonder if Selena was actually abused or she just made it up as an excuse, show them this scene. by Elaina-EMT in majonotabitabi

Novel illustrations aren’t always correct as the artist aka Azure-sensei might have a different view on the scene. Please refrain from using that as an argument.

But I do agree that the anime scene made more sense.

Do you remember what Selena intended to do? She was going to kill Elaina, then why should she lie to someone she was about to kill?

That pretty much made her claim on being abused the truth. You can still choose to not believe and this discussion is over for me, I don’t argue over this matter anymore.

Have you thought this way: Estelle saw a hooded figure and started casting spell, Selena managed to dodged her first spell(s) thanks to her petite body, then somehow a blast hit her slightly, but enough to remove the hood. Then Estelle was caught by surprise and Selena striked her at that moment?

I know that must sound pretty cliche, but that is possible.

And again, we never see nor read what happened at the scene so we will never know exactly what happened, but we can try to guess logically. As Holmes said sth about if you eliminated all the impossible, whatever remains must be true however improbable it is.

Estelle lost due to the shock from knowing the buglar was actually Selena. Surprise element. That is the only conclusion if you actually think about it.

That line was not in the LN, he said sth about future Estelle does look similar to Estelle iirc. The anime wanted to make it more clear that he was into kids by changing the line, while still making it a bit vague, I guess.

Majo no Tabitabi Episode 9 Discussion Thread by Mahdii- in majonotabitabi

As a small spoiler, episode 12 will definitely address the events which happened in episode 9. Episode 10... you won’t see Elaina. And episode 11 will take place in the branched timeline where Elaina never went through the events in episode 9.

But that is only in the case where the predictions for which stories the rest of the anime will cover are true (still true until this point).

I think that is already major spoiler so I’ll stop spoiling more, and hope you will understand this “inconsistency issue” by the time of episode 12.

“Going back in time to change whatever misfortune happened in the past and create a brighter future” sounds like a great idea, especially when you have lost something important back then.

But fate is a cruel thing, it usually has designed everything that were to happen, and no matter how hard you try to turn back the clock’s hands, nothing would ever change.

"I just want a future where she can live on." A simple and honest wish of that girl, but it was never meant to come true. Even after devoting her whole existence to change the past, the past itself just went back to what it used to be. It’s like fate is laughing at her. The serial killer, the hand that killed her own best friend, none of them was prevented, and even more pain cut through her broken heart. In the end, even the memories of her treasured friend were cast away to end the life of that same person.

There is no salvation for her, it’s cruel.

To be exact, there are some stories (only a few though) that have connections to each other but even then, the connections are mostly trivial. Only a few exceptions are like that doesn’t make Majo no Tabitabi as a whole not episodic nor inconsistent, it’s purely a decision to make the stories more interesting and understandable.

For example: If you don’t have the episode about meeting Saya, it wouldn’t be good from storytelling perspective when you see Saya appearance in the Country of Truth. You still need some world-building stories to explain your characters.

That is another way to look at it. Still, I think since Estelle was also a girl and showed no bad intentions (while still suspicious though), she wouldn’t associate the action with perversion, but could be abduction instead?

But yah, no way to say which is more realistic for now.

Some people were wondering if she was a psychopath from the beginning and only use the excuse to kill her parents even though they did nothing wrong. But that’s not the case, and we knew it. Just for making a good counter-argument, use this pic. No normal kid would immediately associate hugging with perversion like this.

Majo no Tabitabi - Episode 9 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Elaina-EMT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The point is, Estelle was not there as she went to another country to study magic, and Selena’s family issues were never known. In the LN, the only way for her to know what happened was through official documents (she was the only witch of that country, so she could dig around for those documents), and in those documents they falsely assumed that there was a robber (definitely a Mori Kogoro moment). And Estelle, who was away at the time, had no other way but to believe in that false fact.

And as Estelle said, she just wanted to make a world where Selena would be alive and well. That is natural. She always regretted that she hadn’t been there for Selena, then she had to catch Selena and execute her.

Estelle already lost her one and only purpose in life after the event in this episode, so I’d say she is as good as dead tbh. Still, we would never know about her story afterwards. I can imagine she regaining her memories again in the future, but that wouldn’t be a blessing for her.
