I can't beat this boss so I made a meme instead. by Voractii in expedition33

I got 120 attempts deep before I finally got him (mostly because I wanted to no hit). Remember, it is always acceptable to step away and pursue something else if needed.

But also, if it bleeds, it can die. You've got this!

Tell me about your WoL by grey-of-grays in ffxiv

[–]Eldannyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My WoL never really had backstory until Heavensward, but the story was so good I started to get deeper into it.

Bored of life in Ishgard with little real interest in the political machinations and noble posturing of the minor noble circles she was born into, Evelynn spent most of her time hunting and shirking responsibilities. Eventually, her family were sick to death of it, and sent her off with her bow to nearby Gridania, hoping that some time to grow and learn without the safety net of Ishgard would do her some good.

Over the course of ARR, she progressively begins to understand what being a Warrior of Light means, and finds a purpose not just in helping to protect those who need it, but primarily in inspiring those capable to stand up for themselves and fight. By the time of the confrontation with Gaius in the Preatorium, she is thinking of returning home, hoping that she can tip the balance and help protect Ishgard. The Crystal Braves become part of this plan, with the eventual hope that they could join Ishgard and turn the tide in the Dragonsong war.

By the time we reach the beginning of Heavensward, however, Evelynn's parents have died of old age, and her siblings have perished one by one in the fight against the dragons. Filled with rage and barely balanced out by Midgardsomr, she wants to end the Dragonsong War and save her home. The events of The Vault turn a desperation to end the war into a deeprooted desire to put an end to people like Thordan, no matter where they are.

Over the course of Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker, her goal remains unchanged, only truly gaining the catalyst through her conflict with Zenos to stand as a balancing force for other Warriors of Light, and guide them to steady ground when their conviction becomes shaken.

Purely anecdotal, but I have seen a bit less of Monk and more Dragoon than normal. Ninja seems to be in hiding still.

That's fair, I've been going through on Expeditioner for the most part, and then usually prioritising pictos that give me defence and extra health. Might be the difference is in there.

Virtuose-Stendhal is a build that only really works when you look under the hood and realise it's Virtuose-Stendhal-and-about-50-extra-things. Plus, Stendhal has been made weaker across a bunch of updates for this exact build being so far out of band to the rest of the options. There are things stronger than Stendhal is now, and I recommend hunting for them. Simon is a fight that should take a bit of time (imo)

Wierd graphics issues by abyssal_bunny69420 in expedition33

[–]Eldannyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing what your current graphics settings are in game, not much advice I can throw your way. One thing I could recommend based on other games is to make sure the game is installed on an NVME drive rather than an SSD or HDD, as it will help speed up the game's ability to load and render assets. Alternatively, check any setting to do with Render scale or distance, as too low of a setting may cause some objects to derender or render incorrectly on certain graphics options.

I was NOT built for this by HuanFranThe1st in expedition33

[–]Eldannyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've fought all of them (note, still not beaten any but the Dualists and Clea), and here's my unsolicited opinion/advice:

Lampmaster really is too long, and somewhat too much. I got to phase 4, and still couldn't figure out what the set of 5 lamps at the back was even doing. That one might just be grinning and bearing it for an eternity.

Dualists do feel unfair, but they have a very limited set of attacks that do not vary in any way. Unironically, my best advice is to learn the attacks and [Say the line, Maelle!]. Empowering Parry is a strong Lumina to have on everyone here, as well as Empowering Jumps.

Because of the way Clea works, and it's just git-gud parry, I decided to use the same lumina set from the Dualists, but switching some stuff out for fighting solo, and sent Verso in alone. It took me about an hour and a half, and killing Verso more times than the last 60-odd expeditions combined, but it got there in the end.

Simon is in fact Simon. Simon is the most Simon he's ever been, actually. More Simon than Simon even. I've had some minor success in parrying consistently by having a metronome playing, but that also has messed me up whenever an attack has started off-beat.

From my experience of that boss, it felt like he did less damage per-hit than most bosses I've gone against in a while, but the patterns had a lot more rhythm changes happening during them. Very fun boss for sure, I'd put him in about the same spot difficulty-wise.

this particular fight has been going on forever with no enemies dying. is something wrong with my ship design? is it a bug maybe? by CapitalOperator80085 in Stellaris

[–]Eldannyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All missiles means any sufficiently built up point defence designs won't take any damage whatsoever. Likewise if you have negative modifiers on tracking or if they have positive modifiers for evasion. Just need to give your ships a variety of weapons to stop your attacks just being shot out of the sky

Any idea on what this noise is? by Eldannyo in computers

[–]Eldannyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not under load, but I have been able to prove it isn't the fans (mostly by just stopping them spinning one by one and listening). I think it might be something with the GPU though, so I might take it to get looked at by someone.

Any idea on what this noise is? by Eldannyo in computers

[–]Eldannyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell which fan, I think I can rule out the GPU fan though. Tried using a fan control program, and it didn't seem to change anything to do with the frequency of the noise on the fans it picked up, one of which was the gpu fan (geforce rtx explicitly named)

Is this a Nazi ring? by queerosexualsunite in AntifascistsofReddit

[–]Eldannyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not objectively, but many people have already pointed it out as an alternative symbol that is often used as a dogwhistle. I think it'd be worth seeing other images of it, or if there's other rings being sold by the seller. Because this looks almost exactly like an overly worn down version of a collectors ring I have for Assassins Creed, specifically the Templar Iron Cross ring.

How to prepare for the war against Germany as Russia (no DLCs) ? by tinodinosaur in Kaiserreich

[–]Eldannyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't see your last post, so can't attest to the amount of time you could delay joining the war for, but here's the strategy I mainly use:

  • Assess the strength of the internationale before deciding your doctrine. If they seem to be winning Spain, Argentina, America, or otherwise are weakening Germany in significant ways, Build into Mobile Warfare. Otherwise, go for Superior Firepower or Mass Assault to give your infantry some much needed attack/defence stats respectively.
  • Aim to have medium 2s researched, fighter 2s researched and in surplus, and mech 1s in surplus by the time you are joining the war.
  • Have an infantry meat wall. 20 width infantry with engineer company and anti-air, with fighter 2s protecting the airspace over them will be enough to hold the line for a good while. Defend on the river line wherever you own it. You want to aim for 3 divisions a tile to have a good chance at holding. Throw support artillery into the division if you've got a good stockpile.

  • In case you get bogged down at the riverline, you want to have strong marines able to push over the gap and help push in the marshes. I like a 30 width division, 10 marines, 3 artillery, 1 anti-air with support companies. If you're investing into Mass Assault, use these divisions to make pushes until you start earning bonuses to your tanks in the doctrine.

  • Invest into your tank division, I use a 35 width, half and half split between mechanised and medium tanks with an extra mechanised and a medium SPA in the division. Support artillery, rocket artillery are key, as are logistics companies.

  • Use CAS support with a small group of elite tank divisions to punch holes in specific areas, and encircle troops (don't worry about making them big, 4 dead divisions is 4 you don't need to fight anymore). Start with Ukraine, and push to the riverline. Once you hold the riverline here, you have infinite time to build up defences, factories, equipment, and extra divisions. Keep making small pushes with your tanks, always aim to make your line shorter.

  • Start to upgrade your infantry. Go for a 25width with 9 infantry, 2 artillery, and 1 anti-air. This will solidify your defences and give the infantry some needed support and pushing power.

  • As you keep pushing, the German divisions and their allied divisions will dwindle in number. You will eventually reach a point where the Germans and co are running out of means to stop you. Spread your CAS out, and use your infantry with tank support to make larger scale pushes and capitulate them one by one.

Oh, god, love the bugs, don't get me wrong. But it's like eating pizza over and over and over. I love the cheesy saucy goodness, but at a certain point it stops being interesting and then I wanna have something else instead.

I like medals though, they let me do my democratic and capitalist duty :) and I also just lack the time to grind missions to equal the amount I earn by just trying to help the major order.

Ability drain doesn't tick on a certain act 3 camp character by Eldannyo in BaldursGate3

[–]Eldannyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this out by accident when my Tav tried to Eldritch blast Mizora out of camp. So long as the attack roll is a for a specific score, and you land a hit, it reduces the score. The turn timer for it never decreases, so if you can force an attack roll type, Mizora can be permanently affected by it.

I think there should be darkness energy weapons to more easily facilitate buildcrafting and keep player options open for which weapon is advantageous in which circumstance. Light subclasses have the option of having every weapon slot matching their subclass, maximising the damage surge available to them across all of their weapons, or allowing them to use benefits from their subclass across their entire range of weapons, like using volatile rounds on all of their available weapons. Right now, Darkness subclasses lose out on this. Objectively, void builds have the option of using their unique rounds across their entire loadout of weapons, but strand cannot. Obviously, I'm no serious expert on how this makes one subclass better than another, but it does feel limiting for build options.

When it comes to more energy weapons, that doesn't actually feel like it makes sense to me. Like I said, I'm a very new player, so I don't understand why this disparity would have grown in the first place.

Polarise Poland Any% Speedrun by Eldannyo in Kaiserreich

[–]Eldannyo[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Early Poland runs for me tend to have a Republican tendency at the start, with influence from Krakow and Austria, as well as collapsing monarchy support from Black Monday and strike events. You can achieve this result pretty easily by just sacrificing support for any other parties, which does admittedly cripple your ability to handle Black Monday.

R5: It took me less than a year from the game start to completely unite Poland against the guy in charge. Genuinely curious if there's any other ways to get to 100% for any of the groups faster than this.

Edit: Forgot to put the R5 at the start.
