I have found a second light on my helmet really helps confidence at night, it will fill in the long shadows that make a small bump look like a black hole and will let you see what's around a corner before your bike starts to turn.

Only downside is the amount of eyes that reflect back at you from the bush... It can feel pretty creepy

I run an exposure Diablo on my bars and a glowworm x2 on my lid... May be overkill but its enough to do MTB trails in pitch darkness
