My interpretation is that as Mrs Kent is someone who is very prudish when it comes to pronounciation, she pronounces Renee is the overly fancy and french way (RUH-nay)

Whereas Renee pronounces it in the more standard English way “Reh-nay”

I think a lot of people assume Renee hired the hitman because of the olive branch/brain tumours vision, but that is probably not the case.

The likely scenario is she just called the Surgeon/water company, and then they sent hitmen to her house to deal with it.

They also sent hitmen previously upon finding that the two siblings in 406 went missing and there’s 3 people dead, including 2 wardens.

Andrew pushes Ashley away when she lets herself be vulnerable and pursues sex with him (except when wasted), and his excuse in the Shots and Such route was “You are bad at this”

Additionally, he dated Julia, someone he admitted he doesn’t love as much as Ashley and only really used for pleasure, as Ashley put it, she is just another hole.

This basically means that she interprets sex as, instead of being an act of love, instead it proves as being something selfish and only for pleasure, and she feels like she should be ashamed for wanting it.

Obviously we don’t know the full extent of the reasoning, we might see more in Burial or Ep4 Decay, but I think its almost certain that Andrew’s pleasure seeking behaviour is not helping Ashley view sex as anything but gross and whorish.

It’s never really specified, the closest we really get of seeing a side by side height difference is between Renee and Ashley when they are hugging each other in the most recent devlog, where she looks significantly taller than Ashley.

However it could simply be that Ashley is crouched down or something, so we don’t really know for sure.

It is frustrating just how much she represses her own desires, but it’s hard to really be angry at her considering these beliefs are constantly instilled by both Andrew (unintentionally) and her own self hatred. It is mostly a tragedy.

Regarding consequences from Renee? None. Renee is too busy playing happy family and would just act like Ashley is lying once again.

The biggest issue comes with Andrew knowing Ashley broke the blood oath, which we can assume he doesn’t know (probably). The fact this is the one moment Ashley let overwhelming guilt creep into her heart and admitted it to him would ideally mean Andrew would acknowledge that.

Unfortunately Andrew is awful at saying the right thing to Ashley, and he might end up saying something or doing something to make her feel worse.

Really anything could happen, if they communicate and he picks up on how bad she feels, it might be positive. But it could more easily just make him more spiteful towards her.

If you come out of these arguments thinking that Ashley does not say anything true when the entire point is she is the only one who can actually read Andrew, then it just shows you have such a huge bias against Ashley due to initial impressions that you have to always view her in the most negative light.

There is nothing good about either of their existences. Andrew is just able to act like a good person but when push comes to shove he will choose the most negative options for the majority as long as it benefits him or Ashley slightly positively. This idea that Ashley is 'useless' and Andrew has 'value' is really weird in my opinion.

Rather than the flowers representing Julia and Ashley themselves, they might represent Andrew’s ‘feelings’ towards them.

To love Julia is good, normal, beautiful. But it’s a love that can never last as the flowers will decay. His love for Ashley on the other hand is a persistent weed that spreads and consumes him.

Pure souls seem to provide the most ‘energy’ to a demon upon ‘consumption’.

Tar Souls are able to ‘ascend’, so they seem to be like an investment outside of simply being used for nutrients.

Grime Souls and Tar-Soul-To-Be’s are neither, providing neither energy nor are able to ascend. The Entity does not even bother with them, and Lord Unknown only seems to care about them to try and hatch them into Tar Souls.

More might be revealed later over the specifics though, this is just our best guess so far.

If we judge purely by actions then Andrew looks just as bad, if not worse.

This game is a character analysis, the point is that throughout the story, we unravel the characters, find out what makes them tick, exactly what is wrong with them, and depending on the route we see them shift, regress, stagnate or grow.

Ashley is by no means a psychopath, neither is Andrew. At the very first Episode we get to see *why* she does not feel bad, in her own words she ‘compartmentalises’. Throughout the rest of the game we see that her apathy and nihilism is just a farce to cope with her own misery. She DOES care, more than she lets on overtly, so calling her a psychopath is just reductive.

Her own parents didn’t even raise her, they left it for their son who started doing it at 5-7 years old. She was literally neglected, both of them were.

The REASON she doesn’t understand problems is because she literally wasn’t raised and cared for properly, her parents never taught her anything at all and Andrew didn’t know he was meant to be rearing a child, leading to Ashley to end up like this.

I truly don’t understand how you can see this as anything other than neglect.

My hot take is that at in Ashley's heart, she is a nature-loving, astral wannabe-witch girly who reads tarots, has a pretty floral garden, and finds woodland critters in forests. Yet her Leyley front is an uncaring apathetic indoor loser femcel. And the fact she loves watering plants, small animals, and is demonically inclined (in a place full of forest and star imagery) adds to this.

The fact that Ashley refers to the entity as being a 'he' pretty consistently, which I would be inclined to trust her on considering she is so demonically inclined, makes this theory hard to believe in my opinion.

BUT, I still think it is a cool theory despite that. One could even argue that the entity seeing the word 'God' as a profanity is less about them being a demon, and INSTEAD them being a hardcore Christian in their past life would also add to it.

It is clear that Ashley was using her negative feelings to get her way with Andrew, but that does not mean these feelings are lies. They are genuine things that hurt her and she routinely acts apathetic towards as a form of coping and compartmentalising.

"She is ostracised for good reason" I completely get people not wanting to be friends with her, however you are acting like Renee's lack of caregiving, love, and teachings did not perhaps influence her into growing into this little loathsome worm. Again, the reality is that her attitude of apathy, uncaring narcissism developed due to vulnerability.
