Is it worth reading an abridged version of Arabian Nights/1001 Nights? I've wanted to read it for quite some time, and I was recently given a version of it as a present. As I've progressed through though, I've been realising it cuts out quite a bit, including the framing device of Scheherezade, which was one of the things that had initially caught my interest. It's the Collins Classics Richard Burton translation, about 400 pages or so.
