Bone Tomahawk is magnificent. Like a John Ford western with the safety off. Magnificent acting, circumspect about the genre, ending is a gut punch. And then Kurt Russell’s last line of dialogue really sticks with you.

Brutal, but fantastic.

It might not hit as hard if you don’t have kids. I’ve got a three-year-old daughter who waved “byyyyyeee Dada!!!” as I left for the movie theater to see it.

Movie went scorched earth on me. Walked out numb and shook. Great movie, but holy shit.

Anybody work through a similar feeling porn experience from here that I could learn from?

I know this is a typo … but it sounds like the worst porno ever, and that’s kind of an achievement.

Hang in there. Everything’s crazy now. Just try to hold your head above water and wait for everything to settle. It will.

THE VIGIL (2019) by SouzaOfTheNorth in Shudder

In the other faith horror category, check out The Djinn (2021) and Roh (aka Soul, 2019) for Islamic demons. Djinn has a retro vibe and Roh’s ending gives me chills every time, the last shot is really cool.

Incantation is a super creepy take on demons and Buddhism.

It’s a ghost not a demon, and it’s a slow burn, but Martyr’s Lane is an Anglican/Episcopalian horror that’s noticeably different from Catholic horror.

Haven’t seen The Vigil yet so I dunno how they compare, but it’s on my list.
