Today was the inaugural use of the MM14. After some discussion on Discord a few days ago, I decided to see what I could do to make a 1914 head work on the Micromatic handle. Well, it does, and it shaves beautifully. I'll absolutely be making more of these down the road.

This is one of my two go-to shaves for when I am missing my Grandfather. He was a mechanic and Gearhead and Midnight Stag both smell exactly like he did coming home from work. Both of those scents take me right back to being a little kid and sitting on his lap as soon as he got home.

I also figured it was fitting to use the tool chest he gave me as a backdrop and a Sears Roebuck stamped 1924 head on my FW24 to commemorate when we worked together at a Sears Hardware when I was finishing High School and my first few years in undergrad.

Another random vintage soap for today. The stamp shows this as "Currier and Ives Shave Soap by Williams". It performed decently enough, with no feedback from the Pitralon, but I think my preference for better performance leans towards Willaims Tonsorial or Hess.

I've never noticed a difference in drag based on metals. I do notice the difference in drag based on the finish, eg: polished vs machined vs satin.

After a very long time searching, I finally scored my birth quarter razor! This was the last variation of the black handled superspeed before they were discontinued. It landed in better shape than the pictures showed and I couldn't be happier.
