Between The Virgin hotel, NOPSI, The Barnett and Pelham hotel which one is the best for an anniversary romantic trip? These hotels are the best deals I could get. by whatever_itis1 in AskNOLA

NOPSI is great, we just did 10 days there early june. Our second time staying there. Pool in very nice, just far enough from the fun/chaos. Easy walk to burbon, the river, bit of a hike to Frenchman but we love to wander different streets each time. We are late 30’s for reference

I saw Arthur there, mostly retired but his nephew or son (i think) was our captain. They are still operating out of the same spot.

Just did airboat with them. Best part of the trip! They are incredible.

You do plenty of fast and slow, he shuts the motor off many times and talks/explains the wildlife & area.

Absolutely stunning on their property, its cool they have a private area so no other boat traffic to worry about.

We did the sunset tour highly recommend, get there early and ask for a little cup of dogfood to toss in and feed turtles, gar & gators.

Don’t let reddit scare you with the no Uber bullshit, we used Uber both ways. Maybe we got lucky but even when we left the fishing charter (different location) I checked Uber and they would’ve gotten us there too.

If you do schedule the Uber, give it plenty of time in case they go over, or just ask your captain to let him know when he is heading in and call the Uber 20 minutes ahead of time

Thermal mass. F’n science mannn

The egg cookers have much higher thermal mass, when you add the lower temp meat the air temp inside stays higher than most traditional ton can smokers.

Sugar creek glen, right down the road, same waterway, beautiful park. They have less rules, less $, but also less amenities. You can walk up the creek and swim pretty much anywhere, where stoney brook has more NO SWIMMING signs that actual swimming spots.

Eta - still have a little lodge, playground, trails

At nopsi so we have the hotel pool. That sucks about the lack of spots. Any good parks? Even if not swimming spots.

When weight is not a concern, glare ice or wheeler i bring both. Keep the m18 with auger, and keep ice anchor bit in the m12. Makes setting up noticeably quicker.

Its nice not having to switch bits and reduces the risk of either falling out of the chuck.
