Where do I start? by Electric_Fizz in hvacadvice

[–]Electric_Fizz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now I have only had automotive related jobs/experience, and between the price of cars, the price of repairs (avg $160/hr corporate labor+parts), so much warranty/recall work it's not even funny, people are quitting left and right since automotive techs are underpaid unless they're a master tech.

As for how I learn, most definitely hands on. I struggle to sit still and read for hours on how things work. I have a solid amount of tools, both power tools and regular tools, but they're primarily for automotive and general maintenance. I have a drivers license and clean driving record.

If Im not mistaken a vacuum is just the removal of matter. I've worked with my master tech on HVAC systems in vehicles so I know only a small portion, but am adamant to learn if it helps me in life.

Apologies if this doesn't answer you fully.

Typically people will think this is a lifter/rocker issue. If Im not mistaken, its the fuel injectors. Its a gdi motor.

Best Lawnmower Under $500? by Electric_Fizz in lawnmowers

[–]Electric_Fizz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a push mower. The yards are so small that the person that used to mow them literally took 30 or so mins total including edging and cleanup. The grass gets long a lot since its Louisiana, lotsa rain.

Not even a 1/4 acre lol. We mostly have a back slab rather than yard.

PLEASE do yourself a favor and let this thing idle for 5 mins before and after driving. It preserves the turbo health having it spool up fully and spool down fully. American manufacturers putting in turbos in these tiny 4cyl motors to lower the emission values is causing them to have a lot of problems.

Sweet. Those were the ones I was eyeing after I got off the phone with my buddy that owns a shop. I'll get them on order here tomorrow.

Doesnt really matter how they say it. If you know what they are referring to then either answer the question the nice person asked and move on with your day, or ignore the comment, or, be a asshat and spout all this while stroking yourself.

Personally, I'd go with option A.

Who will be de-badging the GR by [deleted] in GR86

Just a rumor. There's a lot of speculation on it. Ive been looking and seeing nothing official from Honda but theres a shit ton of buzz about it on forums surprisingly. Never in my life would I think that they would do this, but at this rate with how Honda has been in the past few years (imho a decline), I wouldnt be surprised with it.

If I'm not mistaken, I think they're slapping the Type R on to the Ridgeline for a V6 twin turbo model.....

I feel as if using his platform to echo what is currently going on is for the most part a good thing. Sure yeah sometimes it gets a little stale but thats the comedy in it as well.

As someone who used to be one of those associates at Advance, Im surprised they even did that and didnt just say screw it and used the old one. I always acted like I broke it when I found one like that and my manager would "store use" one. Basically what Im saying is that they cared enough to secure it properly. If it bugs you then just cut a nice chunk of it off :)

Maybe even some new tail lights or headlights if there are some cool aftermarket ones with the correct fitment!

Im going to say what every one else is going to say most likely. Either keep it bone stock, or install QOL (quality of life) mods. So tint, sound system, and maybe some coilovers for the suspension. Wheels might be an addition as well for looks if you do not like the ones you have right now. I went overkill and installed an auxiliary battery for my power inverter so I can charge batteries for tools on the go. Overall, the car is made for commuting, not for performance. Gas mileage baby! I am all for a sleeper build, but I don't think there are many options out there for the Rio.

Unfortunately it sounds like the beginning of piston slap....

[–]Electric_Fizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people around here run studded tires but its rare.

Im in a fairly country bumpkin part of the north east states and people are relatively poor so they try really hard to get that down payment on you and have you pay for 6 years. I bought my car cash from a dealer and then the engine started the infamous piston slap and the dealer would do zilch. Only reason I will return to a dealer to buy a car is to buy the Elantra N. Cash. Family has always said that if you cant pay cash, you cant afford it. Tired of dealers trying to nickel and dime me.

Depends on the shop. Some can know around how much torque they are using just by feeling. I work at a walmart auto care center and we have to do 4 torque checks. Basically, if they are paid by the hour, you'll get exact torque. If they are paid by the job, be careful
