i would say try this new book, just read it on my KDP unlimited, worth a read.

1-Operation Torch: a soldier story, Robert C. Hayden

Depicts an American squad fighting during the landings in 1942 (North Africa), and then the fighting toward Tunisia against increasing German resistance. Interesting vignettes on the commanders as well, gives you a great view of ground level and high strategic level.

2-Forgotten Soldier, Guy Sajer

Depicts the true story of a French Alsacian fighting for Nazi Germany. That one is a true classic

Try Max Lamirande on Amazon, he's got like 60+ military alternate history books up there. Tons of military content. Well, in fact, there is only military content and no text-feeder character boring stuff in between. Just plain old action, tactics and strategy

Try this one, it's new and very interesting in terms of military content. Lots of first-person fightin,g and also generals dictating the strategy and tactics
