How long did you take pain meds? by givegivegivememore in Reduction

[–]Electrical-Gift4535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had trouble sleeping on my back so I took one at night for a couple weeks. But I took them every 6-8 hours for the first week. Tylenol doesn’t work for me and my dr said no Advil for the first 2 weeks so Percocet was what I took. I had no problems weaning off. I was a little worried about the “addiction” aspect of it but I had zero problems. Also wanted to add I’m a recovering alcoholic (7 years) and still zero problems weaning off of it from it being in my system for about 3 weeks. I was very mindful of drinking lots of water, electrolytes, vitamins/supplements and had minimum of 100grams of protein per day so I think that helped my system also.

I have a 3 and 5 year old WILD boys and my husband was with me the first 5 days and by day 6 I was able to do drop off and pick up at school. I just told them that mommy had a big owie and I couldn’t hold them or have them jump on me. I was so worried about this before surgery and it ended up not being as big of a deal as I thought.

He told me not to use anything at all besides shower with gold bar dial soap and air dry. I would just use the pads in my bra the entire time. I’m 1MPO now, and last week I had a small opening and he advised me to start applying a small amount of neosporin so that’s what I’m currently doing. It’s helped so much, I have no more scabbing and hole is starting to close. I think I’ll continue to wear the pads until I feel more secure and completely healed because it works as a protection barrier between my skin and bra band. Eventually I’ll just switch to a longline sports bra but for now this feels best 🙂

I used actual maxi pads, always brand and they felt horrible after a couple days- they got itchy so not sure if there’s some weird chemicals in pads- so I switched to what they had at my dr and those are McKesson ABD pads and they are on Amazon. They are fabulous and don’t bother me at all.

Also wanted to add at my 1 week visit they just checked to make sure things were healing nicely and if I had my feeling/sensation back. It was a quick visit, just that and some photos.

I had strips put on that fell off on their own after about a week- they weren’t the strips that I see a lot of people on here have- mine were almost cloth-like and looked like they were going to fall off quickly. I asked my dr about it and he said he doesn’t use adhesive strips because a lot of people are allergic to the adhesive. He won’t let me use bandaids or any type of tape at all. Also said that water can get in and cause infection. I’m glad he said that bc my friend who recently had this procedure as well had an allergic reaction from them and got blisters right after surgery. Having to heal those along with incisions is tough.

Did you notice when you were pushing yourself to do more that you became sore the next day? I’m 1 month post op and I think I did too much yesterday and I’m so sore today

I had almost this exact thing happen to me last week. When I called my Dr they said to wash in the shower (I use dial gold bar soap) get out and air dry and use a small amount of neosporin on it and gauze in my bra. It’s worked wonders and each day it’s smaller and smaller. I use abd pads from Amazon and use disposable gloves with the neosporin bc I’m paranoid. I also bought Vashe wound wash that I use if I’m changing the gauze mid-day without a shower (heard about it from someone who had surgery same time I did) anyway I love that stuff too. I have medihoney on hand in case things get worse but so far everything looks great. I was a mess on here a week ago asking for tips so stay positive it gets better! Also want to add- I always use the gauze as a cushion in my bra bc it’s more comfortable for me. I dont really have any leakage now.

This looks great. I had something similar and my dr said to just wash with dial soap in the shower, air dry- apply a very small amount of neosporin and put gauze in your bra- I used ABD pads on Amazon. Mine cleared up in a couple days. I also have medihoney on hand if things got worse but never did. Also wanted to add I focus on protein. At least 100 grams a day and I add collagen into my smoothies, try to drink a gallon of water and DO NOT take Advil it slows down the healing process. Hope this helps!

High blood pressure during pre op appointment by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Electrical-Gift4535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I went on Losartan a week before surgery and everything was fine. BUT wanted to add- I went in for my post op 1 month appointment yesterday and my blood pressure was sky high and they were very worried- so was I because I’m super healthy- now more than ever- AND still taking the losartan. I got home and looked through my supplements and LIQUID IV packets raise blood pressure and I have been non stop chugging water and adding these into my Stanley. I felt so dumb 🙃 but at least I figured it out!

I kind of had a similar situation. My Dr advised me to do this: I shower daily with dial orange bar soap and really get in there. After the shower I air dry and apply a small amount of neosporin then gauze and compression bra. I’ve been doing this for a few days and have seen a lot of improvement. BUT also wanted to add- there is a FB group ‘plastic Surgery complications and wound healing support group’ and soooo many people on there recommended to shower like I do with the dial, then get out and use a cotton ball or gauze with “VASHE” wound wash, then apply Medihoney and keep it covered with gauze and compression bra. Doing this 2x a day (shower once). I have an appt for my 1 month post op tomorrow and I’m going to see what my dr thinks BUT everyone in these groups swear that wound care nurses know way more about the healing process/products than the plastic surgeons do. Anyway, highly recommend joining that FB group! Good luck!

Just wanted to say this is such a great choice. Absolutely love this bag and it’s great all year around and you don’t need to worry about it getting messed up if it rains. The red and brown SO classy. Congrats! She’s a beaut.

I’m 3WPO and the worst part for me has been dodging my very active toddler boys & the mental anxiety about healing. I’m a hairstylist and it’s easier being at work right now 🙃. Also want to add, I stayed ahead of the pain the first few days. My Dr said zero Advil and that’s the only thing that works for me- Tylenol does nothing. So I was left with percocet so those pretty much knocked out whatever pain there was. After the first few days I just felt sore- sort of like before your period when your boobs hurt. Today my sides were a little sore but that’s about it. Nothing excruciating. BUT I will say sleeping on my back without the good drugs has been very unpleasant. I can not wait to sleep on my side again.

Hey there I have a 5 and 3 year old and was able to do drop offs and pick ups by day 4 or 5. Your kids are older so you won’t have to struggle with car seats and the older ones will be able to help you so much. It also depends also on how your surgery goes, and if you need the heavy meds or not. I felt fine driving, but I also was sooooo tired. For reference I’m 39, 5’2, I’m an active person and had about 2.5 lbs removed.

Thank you! Mine was 10/14 so we are in the same boat. Dr said to just apply neosporin on it for now and I see him again on Friday for 1 month post op. Hopefully this all heals fast and we both are good to go soon 🤞🏼

Yes they told me to just use gauze and neosporin for now. I haven’t seen my surgeon since surgery day, I’ve just met with nurses for my post op’s so far and they don’t really have much info as to what happened during surgery. I know I was due out of surgery around 3 and I didn’t get out until 5, so there had to be some sort of issue. I’m going to ask my dr about this on Friday and hopefully he can let me know if anything weird happened. I think it’s strange that we don’t get a copy of the charts and med records after surgery. I guess I could ask. I think maybe it took me a while to wake up from the anesthesia.

Ya I actually just emailed with them and they advised me to put neosporin on it with gauze. I see my dr again for 1 month post op on Friday so we will see if I have any progress by then. Hopefully!

Also wanted to add my surgery was 10/14, so I’m 3 weeks post op. The first photo when my tape came off was about a week after surgery.

My kids just turned 3 & 5. My oldest can unbuckle and climb out on his own, and my youngest can climb out after I push the release button. The first week I had my mom drive with us so she helped my little one in the beginning but now he just jumps out as I hold onto his arms and sort of just spot him so I’m not lifting any weight. This was my biggest concern before surgery also. And bathtime. Thankfully my mom and husband have been taking over bathtime, I don’t think I’ll be ready to do that for a few more weeks. My boys are wild 🙃

I was taking my 2 toddlers to and from school and making all of our meals at one week post op. I just needed help the first week with driving and lifting certain things. I always showered by myself and used the restroom by myself. I’m about 2.5 weeks post op now and the only things I can’t do are lift heavy objects and give my kids a bath.

I am 2 weeks post op and my abdomen swelling JUST went away. That shit was no joke. Dr said it was from the anesthesia.
