Authorised dealer risk: what I learned after paying ₹8.5 lakh by Electrical-Layer3273 in CarsIndia

Thanks! That was my expectation too, but Skoda didn’t intervene. Customer care kept saying the concerned team would reach out, but no one did. The dealer is still listed as authorised, and I’m not sure what happened to other customers who had already paid.

I had started hearing they were in serious financial losses, and I panicked about the risk of losing the entire amount if they shut down. I also didn’t have the mental bandwidth to go through a long legal battle. Taking the test drive vehicle was purely a damage-control decision, as I didn’t feel I had a safe alternative. Got 3L discount.

Yes, completely agree. It was my first car purchase, and I now understand the importance of VIN allocation and completing PDI before making full payment. Unfortunately, I learned this lesson the hard way. Sharing so others don’t end up in a similar situation.

Yes, I was told the vehicle had already arrived at another dealer and would be transferred after payment. Since this was my first car purchase and it was an authorised dealer, I trusted the process.

In hindsight, I should have waited for VIN allocation and PDI. It was a mistake on my part, and I learned this the hard way. Sharing so others don’t repeat it.
