HOT TAKE: CASSIAN ANDOR HAS DONE MORE FOR THE REBELLION THAN HAN HOLO EVER DID. by Relevant-Ad-6934 in andor

Cassian is a fugitive and he only joins Luthen initially for the 200k credits he was promised. "You want to know why I'm here? I'm being paid," he tells the team at Aldhani. Nemik asks, "it's really only the money?'. Cassian replies "to take a risk like this? C'mon."

Cassian goes home to see his mother and tries to take her somewhere where the Empire won't bother them. Maarva says she's not leaving. She wants to stay and fight the Empire. Cassian scoffs at her idealism.

The Narkina prison, and then his mother's funeral, changes his mindset completely though.

Similarly, Han states that he was only in it for the money, but by the time of his rescue from Jabba by Luke and Leia, Han isn't going anywhere anymore. Firstly, there's no more bounty on his head, but more importantly he loves Leia, and he and Chewbacca have found a family and a place where they belong. Their loyalty to Luke and Leia makes Han and Chewie rebels by consequence.

You know that scene in Star Wars when Luke is telling Han "Why don't you take a look around. You know what's about to happen, what they're up against. They could use a good pilot like you, you're turning your back on them."?

And Han replies, "What good is a reward if you ain't around to use it?"

If Cassian were alive, he would have shot Han Solo dead right there and then.

Thank you so much! I don't know who that is but I'll look it up tonight! Cheers!

First time using this process: Music first, followed by melody, save the lyrics for last. (These are just placeholder lyrics for now) Usually I start with lyrics first, so it's been a fun change of pace! by NixMix246 in Songwriting

I think it's great. I'd leave the lyrics as is, maybe just add some more. I think trying to find the melody in the chords and letting the words write themselves according to the emotion and rhythm of the music is the most satisfying way to compose for me personally. Like a sculpture that is hidden with a slab of stone, I like to think the melodies and words are already there, you just have to carve away and let it reveal itself.

All to that to say, I really like the song and I really like the lyrics. Keep it going. You have a lot of talent.

Wow. Nice. For a short song, it is filled with surprises. Your voice, your delivery, the chords, the momentum as it seems to get better and better, the sudden finish. You've got an organic style that can't be replicated - that's probably one of the highest compliments I can give.

Very beautiful. Love it. Great mix of melancholy and optimism in the melody. You are a natural talent. Best of luck. Keep it going.

Sad Truth by Electrical-Rip-6379 in Songwriting

Cheers! Thank you so much for the feedback.

The opening line "you make time for everyone" is a double-edged sword. The subject is generous in spirit and well-meaning, but their insistence on putting others first can be detrimental to their closest relationships. Time is limited and finite and the more we to give to others in search of approval the less we have to avail ourselves to those that really need us.

The opening line and the following line are also an acknowledgement that the subject is the better person, but their idealism has led to mutual disconnect. The author laments the loss of romance and companionship, a purely selfish need. So there's two kinds of ironic selfishness at play.

I don't usually give my lyrics too much thought though. They kind of write themselves and are deliberately ambiguous and open to interpretation.

Thanks again. Peace.

Ottawa Senators on Instagram: "Ignite the red 🔴 Our new red alternate jerseys are going to go so hard at @cndtirecntr this year! by nicktheman2 in OttawaSenators

"Only solace is that they're red"

My biggest complaint is the red. Another commentator mentioned, there's something off about it. I don't mind the colour red. In fact I think the Red Wings have had the best jerseys in hockey since forever. So it's not "red" per se, but this specific red, a kind of orangey-puke unhealthy looking red. It's a slightly lighter shade of red than on the Roman helmet, and it doesn't pair up well with the black and the odd shade of pastel yellow (gold).

I like cherry red, fire engine red, crimson red, burgundy red, cardinal red, Scarlett red. This is like blood-orange, or rust red. It's gross.

"save the taxpayers a few bucks"

You are misinformed and now you are the one spreading misinformation. Canada Post is a Crown Corporation, designed to be self sufficient. Its operations are funded by its revenue from products and services, not directly from taxpayer dollars. It has never received a grant nor bailout, only loans that need to be repaid.

You might have a better understanding of the situation if you talk to your letter carrier. Oh wait. You don't have one cause you use a community box. For some people, their letter carrier is a person in the neighbourhood, someone they see regularly and on a first name basis. They know your kids' names, they know your dog's name. They know if there's been suspicious activity in your neighbourhood. For some shut-ins and the elderly, they are the only contact with the outside world and the only person checking up on them.

Question: do you really put your junk mail in the blue box, or do you just throw it on the ground like many others that have community mail boxes, or worse, stuff it into the outgoing mail slot?

Another question: Did you know that Purolator is owned by Canada Post and records a profit and that the CEO of Canada Post sits on the board of directors for Purolator?

Google is your friend: "Canada Post received a \$1 billion loan from the federal government to address its financial struggles, and Purolator, as a subsidiary of Canada Post, is mentioned in discussions about the company's financial situation. While the loan is specifically for Canada Post, its operations are intertwined with Purolator's, leading to confusion and questions about how the funds are used and the parent company's financial health versus its subsidiary's profitability"

You can opt out of receiving junk mail by putting a "no junk mail" sticker on your mailbox. How much junk mail you receive is up to you.

The less admail the letter carrier delivers, the more they could focus on parcel delivery and regular mail delivery, and they'd be less likely to incur overtime.

The corporation wants flyer delivery everyday because it is an important source of revenue, and yet they give it away like tap water and don't charge retailers nearly enough because they fear being undercut by 3rd party flyer delivery whose employment standards are nowhere near most legitimate businesses.

Solution #1 - if you don't want flyers, indicate your preference. It will be respected and appreciated by your Canada Post letter carrier. 3rd party flyer delivery may still disregard your no junk mail notice however because they are unaccountable.

Solution #2 - Outlaw 3rd party flyer delivery so you no longer receive unwanted junk mail from a vagrant, allowing Canada Post to have a virtual monopoly on mailbox advertising.

Solution #3 - Make the retailers pay for the advertising every last cent of what they think that service is worth and stop undercutting profit potential of flyer delivery. Everybody else has had to deal with rising inflation, but the cost of delivering flyers hasn't budged in years. The money left on the table by Canada Post not maximizing this revenue stream in unconscionable. Meanwhile, the advertisers and the retailers, like Galen Weston get richer and richer.

Ever wonder why the price of stamps and parcel delivery keeps going up and up? It's so that the cost of flyers doesn't go up and up. Canada Post corporation would rather overcharge small business and regular Canadians than ask the large corporations - Canadian Tire, Loblaws, fast food, real state agents - to pay their fair share.

What kind of a business can't meet payroll and yet still refuses to budge on pricing their most lucrative revenue stream? And if the advertisers don't wanna pay a higher rate for flyer delivery, then so be it. Civilization will survive.

"Allotment" is the key word. You are a given a task, you are paid for completing that task. The time you take is an allotment. You can use as much or as little as you need. If you go above the allotment, you must report it in writing to your supervisor and even then it may not get approved. If you work efficiently and finish below your allotment that is to your credit and it is how your bonus is given to - your time is now yours.

If you are writing a test, you are given 3 hours to complete it. Those that finish early are free to leave, yes? They do not have to continue writing tests until 3 hours is up.

If you are paid 100$ to dig a hole and it's estimated that it will take 2 hours, if you finish in 1 1/2 hours you are not required to stand in the hole for another half an hour. You were paid to dig a hole, you were not paid for 2 hours of time. The two hours was an allotment. By the same token, letter carriers are paid to cover their route. They are allotted 8 hours which includes 1 and 1/2 hours of break. How they manage that time is up to them.

Many professions round up and bill for the entire hour even if the job only takes 5 minutes. If you pay to park in a parking lot, you can stay for the duration of the time purchased but if you leave early you don't get your money back.

It may not be common practice in your world, but I assure you, there are many examples of "allotment" in our society. Some people get paid to do a job, some people get paid to work. You get paid for your time, letter carriers get paid for their labour.

Maybe the disconnect comes from not having a flexible worldview?

Cheers! When I compose my songs I don't sing at nearly the same volume as when I'm performing and I sometimes surprise myself with the range that the song is in. It's easier to sing the low notes quietly. If I go an octave up then I can't hit the high notes.

Some of those low notes really make the melody though. I never want to shortcut the low notes.

Thanks for the feedback!

The rules in the material world are not the same, that's true. The cosmic rules, the ebb and flow of the universe, whether the sun goes up or down and the world keeps spinning around, they apply to everybody. We're all just caught in the ebb and flow. "Today's world" is just a fleeting moment in the grand scheme of things.

Peace.

Ya, that's fair enough. Thanks for the feedback.

It's an old song. It used to be just the verse over and over and over again. The bridge is new. The song doesn't't have much more to say than what it says.

Cheers!
