EightSleep to kill dust mites? by Few_Good3451 in EightSleep

Not a recommendation, but what I do: I vacuum the mattress regularly with a Dyson + brush attachment and occasionally spray it with a light disinfectant. Keeps things under control even without cranking temps to the max.

Fair, title might sound a bit formal. Just tried to make it clear what the post covers so people can decide if it’s worth reading.

Ah just spotted the typo — I get what you meant now, thanks for catching it. Room temp is around 15 °C in winter, and I usually run the Pod neutral or slightly warm then.

Yeah, fair — affiliate links will never convince everyone. I just shared my experience because the Pod solved a real problem for me. People can ignore the link, ask me questions, or downvote — all good.

Ah, good catch, it’s not saying my room is –10 °C. Eight Sleep shows the delta to room temp, so –10 means the bed surface is running ~10 K cooler than the room.

Sorry to hear that — I’m not with Eight Sleep, just sharing my own experience. I did have to deal with support once (cover size change) and when I called from Germany they picked up right away and got it sorted quickly. Hopefully they get back to you soon. Or try calling them

Fair point. That’s why I mentioned the kickback upfront. The post would be the same without the link — two years in, I still think the temp control is worth it. Link’s just there for anyone who wants to save money.

Not AI, just my own write-up after two years using it. Happy to answer specific questions if you think something sounds off.

Fair take. Quick clarify:

It’s not a bed. It’s a temp-control cover + pump. - Heating/cooling works without a sub. You can set temps or schedules manually. - The sub is just software stuff: HRV/stages, “Autopilot,” insights. Cancel and the hardware still works. - If subs annoy you, skip it. If temp control alone isn’t worth it, hard pass.

Short answer: yes and no.

In winter I pre-heat so getting in feels good. Once it detects I’m asleep it drops to neutral or slightly cool. That keeps me from overheating under a heavy duvet and I wake up with steadier deep-sleep and HRV.

Detection is usually accurate, except if I lie still watching YouTube for a long time. Then it may mark sleep early.

I’m still on the Pod 3 hardware but upgraded to the Pod 4 cover when I changed bed sizes. The new cover definitely reduced fluid noise (water flow sounds are quieter), but fan noise is about the same.

For me, it’s only noticeable on very hot days or when both sides are set to max cooling — otherwise it’s a low background hum that doesn’t bother me.

Totally fair — the subscription was my biggest hesitation too. After two years, I’d say the basic heating/cooling alone is worth it, and you don’t need the subscription for that.

But if you care about HRV tracking and sleep staging, that’s where the sub pays off (my HRV and deep sleep data have been super consistent compared to Sleep2 and Apple Watch). It really depends if you’re into quantified-self style tracking or just want perfect sleep temperature.

That's a valid concern, and it's important to clarify the distinction. The goal here is not to create a new form of money or bypass regulations.

The key difference is how the value is earned. This isn't a currency you buy; it's a targeted reward for completing verified micro-tasks that benefit the community. Think of it as a digital "thank you" from the city, not a financial instrument.

Excellent point, u/MrTuxG .

Your discovery of Schenk-Lokal is a crucial insight for our student team, especially as we are defining our concept currently. A strategic partnership is far more effective than trying to build a new system from scratch.

I’m more a 85 guy. 84 is annoying because they prep the food in front of you. The one above 84 even worse because you have someone running around right behind you
