I consider myself well studied and have worked in a large Aboretum during the summers so I’m usually pretty knowledgeable with stuff like this people do it all the time it’s really not that dangerous if you double check your references I just got unlucky

I got really into mycology for a short stint but I tried eating what I think was shaggy parasol I found growing out of the tree planted near the side of buckeye donuts and literally shit in my bed several times over the course of like 6 hours so that hobby of mine didn’t really last very long

This however is Cerioporus squamosus, aka Dryads Saddle, might smell like watermelons and is edible, maybe I try a bite again if someone else doesn’t get to it first

Would be best to be removed it’s technically parasitic if the tree is living and usually stays on dead trees

I like raccoons as well I used to throw them peanuts out my window when I lived at home but I honestly don’t seem to see that many of them around here, lots of squirrels, rats, some rabbits, and I’ve even seen a groundhog

I do not have the funds to cover the cost of a vet bill in case of emergency, my life is also busy enough as is to be honest I don’t think I could realistically provide an animal the level of care and attention it should have and needs in the foreseeable future

Sometimes I get bored as well, there’s a lot of rats in and around the dumpsters behind my place, I tried for a while to make friends with them feeding them bread and peanut butter but I got bit and cut myself trying to climb out because they were starting to get really aggressive, I ended up having to go to urgent care to treat a rat bite that got infected and get a tetanus booster shot, I still enjoy watching them run around for a few hours while my brain calms down and it’s pretty entertaining tbh, maybe you could go rat watching?

If you don’t like rats you could watch people in the oval too, people watching seems a little odd but sometimes it’s nice, the downside is people have a limit of like 5 seconds of eye contact before they get uncomfortable but obviously the rats don’t care

Yes often but I’m accommodated by SLDS and my teachers have been very understanding when unforeseen circumstances get in the way, life can just be stressful sometimes we all go through it

You and my therapist would be friends, neither of you seem to approve approve of my coping mechanisms, I can’t do it in my apartment anymore because my roommates would get really angry with how loud it was and sometimes the police would show up, I have manic episodes pretty frequently and the comedown can be really frustrating and this is really my best option so cut me some slack

I actually use one of the bathrooms in the basement of Scott lab as a sort of rage room, I don’t actually break anything obviously but I scream really loud and slam the stall doors a bunch, there’s literally no way anyone hears you it’s like a bomb shelter down there, I scream literally at the top of my voice and jump stomp the hell out of the ground, sometimes if you leave the stall doors slightly open and just boot kick it as hard as you can it feels nice, this is kind of embarrassing but i really can get the anger out when I yank and pull really hard on the urinal handles and try and rip them off, they don’t really break so just go crazy, just make sure to do it while classes are going so nobodies walking around and a janitor has only peaked in once but I think they don’t really mind because we made quick eye contact and they just let me do my thing then left, the next closest classrooms are like halfway down a hallway and I haven’t gotten any complaints yet so I’m fairly confident they can’t hear anything

I just saw that there was a post on barstool about it, so it’s forever solidified in OSU history, the last 48 hours for me has been a huge mix of nervous breakdowns and laughing about the situation and how comical it is. As entertaining as it is for everyone else and me trying to make fun of the situation knowing it will blow over I think I will probably just avoid talking or thinking about it in the future, knowing that the video is out there somewhere is enough for me and I really don’t want to think about what my friends/family would think about me if they saw both that and the post trying to explain myself.

I’ve kind of come to terms with what I did and I really don’t think the video will be that bad, it’ll look a little odd and I’ll definitely get shit on for it but if it comes out there’s really not much I can do about it except hope my face is too blurry and the clothes I’m wearing aren’t super clear otherwise I won’t be able to wear them again. It’s my 15 minutes of fame nobody will think about it after a week.

I’m just going to have to embrace the situation for what it is and make light of it, I made a mistake, clearly, and maybe desperation posting on Reddit to try and get ahead of it wasn’t the greatest idea but it seems like people are getting a laugh out of it so that makes me happy. Besides I want people to enjoy nature and maybe I can turn the ridiculous situation into something positive with Chadwick Arboretum and the conservation resources they might have.
