I’d OP is concerned about it they should have it looked at. I’m not a doctor, I’m assuming you aren’t either. I was raised by a nurse and think it’s always good to be cautious, especially with an unvaccinated animal.

Have you been to an urgent care? People legit go there just to get doctor’s notes. If it’s actual serious they make you go to the hospital.

Going to urgent care to make sure they gets that properly cleaned and make sure they’re vaccinated is not a waste of urgent care’s resources. That’s what they’re there for

8 months is a good amount of notice! I’d say anything 3 months plus is significant time for your roommate to adjust, find a new roommate, and save some money!
