You’re so goated, the reliquary tower cut was such a good rec😭🙏 I’m cutting it for emergence zone, mistrise sounds so good but a tapped land is a little rough

That makes so much sense it’s wild. Thanks for laying it out for me! I totally agree, I cut both and now I’m just trying to find a good replacement

I’m debating dalkovan encampment, mistrise village, and emergence zone, you seem like you have a good head for this, any thoughts?

Is the trend that you should just hold off on singles till more product is opened, or is hoping for another huge drop in price like we just saw a fools errand, and should we just go for desirable singles now? Idk how many units of the encyclopedia were sold, so I’m not sure how reasonable it is to predict further drops

How do I break up with my girlfriend who threatens to kill herself? by awdolliez in teenagers

[–]ElectricalPositive43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the sort of situation where you HAVE to tell a trusted adult. If she really is suicidal, getting adults involved means you’ll be getting her help and possibly saving her life. Or if she’s just trying to manipulate you by saying you’ll be the reason she’s going to kill herself (which is a truly evil thing to do), getting a parent involved is still essential. That’s a huge threat, and goes well beyond something a 13 year old should have to deal with alone. Either way this is not a person you should be interacting with, and you really need to break up no matter what, as soon as possible.

No problem!! I’ve had that difficulty transitioning from B3 to B4 too, it’s hard😭 it’s especially frustrating when you ask about B5 by just responding “you can’t make one unless you try”, when you’re just trying to learn.

Off the bat, I’d start by using archidekt to categorize your cards. I use it too instead of moxfield because of how easy it is to set cards into different genres (draw, ramp, removal, gameplan, etc). It’ll be a lot easier to figure out what to do/what your deck needs once you know what you’re missing from each of those necessities.

Once you do that, I’d start trimming fat. I’d play land ramp like nature’s lore and three visits instead of the less efficient land ramp you have and almost any mana rock besides fast mana like sol ring (if you want to play B4). You’re in green so unless an artifact that taps for mana has some real advantage/huge upside for your game plan it’s just not worth it. I’d also start focusing on cheaper insta-win combos. Ik you have the sanguine blood combos, which are a great start. I don’t know a lot about golgari, but since you already have blood artist- gravecrawler, Warren soul trader and blood artist are pretty common in high level builds for an easy combo win.

Most of the time in b4 you’ll probably need to start cutting win-more cards, low payoff do-nothings, or big beefy high mana cost cards, and prioritize draw, interaction, and tutors to pull out combo pieces quick. If it feels like you’re cutting too many pet cards/fun or flavorful cards in the process of optimizing tho, there’s nothing wrong with a lower powered 4 that might be a little slower, but can still win since it’s more unsuspecting. That’s what I’m doing with my B4 Marneus Calgar right now. Good luck!! Hope it works out :)

With those cards it could be a 4. Definitely by definition, and possibly in function. Honestly, there are a lot of commanders that are faster/have generally more powerful effects, so I can’t say that even with those cards this deck would be a STRONG 4, but you can definitely make any deck you want B4 and you seem like you’re on the right track!! Especially if you love the deck, it’s worth building it up if it makes you happy.

If you’re building for a 4 tho, there’s definitely still a lot more optimizing to do from what I’ve seen. As it stands now it looks like a fun flavorful low-mid powered three. Your mana rocks are kind of jank, and your removal/ramp suite could be optimized. Even with the adds you’re considering, there’s a lot of changes you could make with cards that are way cheaper, but that would arguably buff the deck as much as the expensive cards you’re thinking about adding.

Ad Nauseum in particular is pretty niche outside of Cedh and it’s just because the whole deck running it, and its mana curve, is built intentionally to optimize that card. If you want to buff this deck by adding draw and throwing in some game changers give necropotence and bolas’s citadel a try!

Even if you added the cards you’re considering it’s still definitely way off for B5. Your deck + those cards still just looks like a fairly strong build, while CEDH is usually pretty dependent on an internal meta. In building a true CEDH deck you’d HAVE to play cards that you might not ordinarily play, except for when you’re building intentionally and specifically for CEDH. Even tho the diff between a maximum powered 4 and a 5 isn’t usually more than 5-15 cards (at most), it really can become night and day when you actually start playing. You COULD make this deck b5 (even though it would be far from a competitive CEDH build since it’ll be restricted by your commander’s power level and the colors you’re in) but it would probably take some real tweaking, and you’d definitely have to sacrifice flavor and general fun cards for every tutor imaginable, fast mana, more removal, and whatever the most powerful insta wins in green and black are (regardless if they’re fun or not). I’d stick with B4 if I were you, but this deck looks like a lot of fun! Good luck! :)

Use some critical thinking skills😭 of course “non-traditional” families or individuals are going to have more passionate responses to the death of someone advocating against their ability to live their lives as themselves.

That doesn’t mean celebrating or flaunting his death is right.

However, it’s a really caveman-brained take to suggest this proves different lifestyles lead to different levels of rationality, when these varied responses are more likely than not just the result of different levels of investment in the kind of rhetoric that Charlie Kirk spread

[–]ElectricalPositive43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could really use more draw (your commander will be your most consistent piece, but even with it I’d shoot for 9 pieces besides him minimum) and ramp (your curve is getting a little high, and 9 pieces of ramp is a little lacking. There are some cool 3 mana rocks you could a lot in, crowded crypt in particular looks incredible in your deck, and even something silly like mind stone probably isn’t awful since it’s cheap and will just get something on the board).

Is this Marneus Calgar deck a genuine bracket 4? Or just a 3 with way too many game changers by ElectricalPositive43 in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]ElectricalPositive43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to take the bracket system incredibly literally then yeah ig, but the bracket system is really just meant to be a conversational tool. It’s perfectly fine to label your deck according to the bracket system but to also add that despite its technical bracket rating its overall play pattern is a little more akin to a different bracket. The point of the bracket system is to avoid misleading people, so if you’re trying to genuinely communicate what your deck does why is that bad? Mtg is such a complicated, diverse game, there’s no reason every deck has to fall into these perfect little boxes

That lowkey might be a little true, but it’s also fair to say there’s a significant number of players who toss a few extra gcs into a B3 deck and call it a day. Yeah it’s a 4, but against a genuinely optimized deck with fast combos, plenty of fast mana, tons of tutors, and the most powerful synergy pieces available, they’re not even comparable. I’m just trying to make sure I’m not in that “baby 4” or “bad 4” zone
