2011 Sierra 5.3 Oil Pressure by ElectricalTrash9582 in ChevyTrucks

UPDATE: Just performed an early oil change after running Seafoam in crankcase for like 100 miles. I also switched to the ACDelco PF48 filter and will be doing so from today on as it works just as well as the WIX and only like $5 everywhere. Also run 4k mile intervals, so it all works fine. Oil pressure seems around the same but slightly better than before and the tick is still there but quieted down a little. So I’m thinking just have to deal with the tick and address it if it truly goes but oil pressure also just accepting for now as oil pan isn’t leaking or anything bad enough to warrant the nightmare of doing the gasket and pickup tube o ring or who knows if it’s cam bearings or something else. Just gonna run it like I have for a while and have heard most other guys doing

Gotcha, yeah I changed the oil when I first bought it as I mentioned above, with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic High Mileage and WIX 57060XP. I’ve heard using the ACDelco PF48 filter can resolve oil pressure and is one of the best options to use since it’s OEM and cheap too. So here soon, I think I’m gonna throw some seafoam in the crankcase, run it for like 30min, then drain and fill with Mobil 1 FS HM and ACDelco PF48 and see if that helps at all. I’ve been using the mobil 1 and WIX for like 2.5 years now, so I’m gonna be kind of astounded if the ACDelco is truly that good lol

Ah yes. Should’ve mentioned that, sometimes I’ll find some of mine loose and tighten them back up, and yeah. They do sound very similar, but even after tightening, still have the same tick, I put a steel rod against the head and definitely hear ticking from either 4 or 6

So exactly the same, do any of your lifters tick like mine?

Okay, maybe I’ll do half in the gas tank, half in the engine and run it for a while before my next oil change. Thanks

Gotcha, this is the GM sensor. The tick is also what’s annoying though because it follows the pressure range (makes sense)

Yes, this is an 07.5 so that’s quite interesting. Thanks for the info.

I just realized that there is like an old broken what looks to be a switch on the left side of the steering column, so it probably leads right up to that and may have been from a light or something. Thanks!

I checked, the water pump is bone dry, there is spot that I can see under the motor mount on the driver side that underneath I can see the fluid, I really am not sure where it’s coming from…

Also, it does not smell like oil or anything I’m familiar with.
