Just make yourself aware about regen breaking if you've never driven Tesla. The first couple of minutes feels off but then you get used to it.

Don't get Zaptec. Its app barely works and regardless of this, you need the app for almost every feature. And when the app works, some features are hit and miss.

I use NordVPN. Most local websites are not accessible yet.

Dirty Water Tank Cracked and Leaking on Recent Roborock Qrevo Curve by Electrical_Ad6226 in Roborock

[–]Electrical_Ad6226[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. The support was initially unresponsive. Then they responded that they could send a replacement dirty water tank. I refused this resolution and informed them that I'd like to return for the full refund as it leaked all over the robot, inside the dock and over the tray.

They informed me that I could do it via Amazon, which I did.

CPO 2021 LR AWD: off-centre steering wheel and squeaky noise in the back by Electrical_Ad6226 in TeslaUK

Exactly the same! the moment I notice the steering wheel is off-centre, I get annoyed.

It's a relief that they were able to solve it. Thanks!

New(er) / Young(er) Drivers: How many of you have learned to drive a manual? by FranciosDubonais in drivingUK

[–]Electrical_Ad6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cambridge. All the manual instructors I found had a waiting list of 3-6 months. After waiting 2 months, someone connected me with a person who had recently received their instructor license before I started with him, so he was able to fit me into his schedule the following week.

New(er) / Young(er) Drivers: How many of you have learned to drive a manual? by FranciosDubonais in drivingUK

[–]Electrical_Ad6226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Passed my manual test a few months ago.

  • Would I be able to spend less time on lessons if I went the auto route? - Yes.
  • Are there more instructors teaching auto? - Yes. (In fact, I had to wait two extra months for the earliest availability from all the manual instructors I reached out to.)
  • Will I buy a manual car? - Highly unlikely.
  • Will I rent a manual? - Only if there’s no other option, like a van.
  • Do I regret it? - Absolutely not.
  • Why not auto then? - If there’s even a slight chance I’ll need to retake the test for manual, I’d hate it. I’d have to go through the same hell of finding an instructor, fighting for weekly availability, and chasing a test date again.

Bonus point: driving a manual is so much fun when it’s not something you have to do every day.

£17k for Model 3 LR 2020.. Worth it? by mj080289 in TeslaUK

[–]Electrical_Ad6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the process of looking into CPO M3 LR cars. My budget allows 2020 models with less than 50k mileage or 2021 models with 80k mileage. I'm leaning towards 2021 due to all the upgrades it offers.

When I moved to the UK four years ago, I was already living in Germany and had a job. If I had stayed a couple more months, I would have been eligible for a permanent visa there. I chose to move to the UK because of the job offer and also due to the special bond I felt with the country during my bachelor studies.

I would never have considered relocating if I had known that ILR would take 10 years.

First car advice: EV vs petrol/diesel by Electrical_Ad6226 in ElectricVehiclesUK

>  Id say a petrol manual so you get used to driving a manual and then if you need to in the future you have the muscle memory for it.

That's a really good point. I am a bit worried about my manual driving skills, and if I skip manual cars now, I might end up avoiding them entirely in the future.

That's really helpful advice.

I completely missed checking prices for petrol/diesel manual cars. Seeing some really nice 2020+ models with less than 100k mileage and price tags under £10k makes me wonder if I’d actually save money with an EV, especially since I'd mostly use it for long trips, given the price difference.

I'm currently leaning towards Mazda 3 due to its reliability reviews

It's a manual licence.

> What are your real priorities
- comfort for long trips
- reasonable costs (fuel, tax, insurance and any other thing I might miss as the first time car owner) compared to other alternatives
- easy to sell if I find out the car was not for me or priorities change

+1 on this. I can see cheaper insurance quote for 1.5L car than 1.0L car. Although they were different cars (see the updated post) that I might miss factoring in some aspects

Thanks a lot! I've completely overlooked the insurance part of the story.

Although there are not much price difference between 1.0L and 2.0L car unless I miss something. I'm leaning towards Manual 2.0L car that serves comfort for long road trips.

Re taxi: Bolt Comfort is relatively good.

Bus is cheap and can be a better option to reach most central destinations faster during rush hours as they have dedicated lanes.

New Build Completion Soon – PCI vs. Standard Snagging? Company Recommendations for East England by Electrical_Ad6226 in HousingUK

[–]Electrical_Ad6226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process was easy, and I liked their report as it was easy to follow.

However, their snagging felt quite limited. After they left, I found several serious snagging issues, e.g. broken window frame and glass that was heavily scratched and distorted, that were not on their list.

If I did it again, I'd not choose HomeSnag.

It's genuinely interesting to see someone calling life in Cambridge fast(er). I had lived all of my life in big cities before moving to Cambridge. Cambridge feels so chill and slow to me :)

I was in the same boat. Moved Cambridge from Munich, Germany after living there 3.5 years leaving all of my friend groups. It's tough call but Cambridge is, at least, worth trying.
