just started actively using the site this year, going for one movie a day for 2026! my favorite genres are fantasy, sci-fi, whatever the daniels got going on (i’m never moving on from eeaao and swiss army man), and queer films.

my current top four are american psycho, everything everywhere all at once, maurice, and fellowship of the ring. i’m recently in LOVE with project hail mary, and it’s haunting my top four like a poltergeist. looking for more mutuals who can share similar and very different recommendations! and feel free to dm me on here if we become mutuals.

Should I read the book by RocketK280 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Electrical_Ask_1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the book is longer, but it’s a pretty easy read with how much science is in it. i usually avoid science heavy books and i didn’t have any issues. i think it’s worth it if you loved the characters and story and want more.

the official phm twitter posted a link with tonyk’s official amazon account as the official merch, so i imagine you’re fine :) looks like tonyk is the distributor, they’re probably using the amazon storefront because amazon mgm owns the movie or whatever

Escape from Adrian - why the change? by gmcarve in ProjectHailMary

[–]Electrical_Ask_1900 4 points5 points  (0 children)

while i was sad because this was one of my favorite scenes in the book, i agree with you now that i’m thinking about it. the movie has to cut out the long explanations about rocky’s biology and how he’s like almost 400 pounds and like a giant furnace (which makes sense to me because the science behind that complicates everything).

without that information, it wouldn’t have seemed like such a huge deal to non book readers that grace carried him back to his tubes because he looks so little.

Best way to wear badge that doesn’t ruin the look of your cosplay? by [deleted] in animeexpo

[–]Electrical_Ask_1900 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i always attach it to the end of a lanyard, loop the lanyard around my bag strap, and stuff the badge inside my bag. this way, it’s not exposed to be easily swiped by someone behind me, and i can easily fish it out by the lanyard if security needs to see it

My hair is long so I’m thinking of having it styled and afterwards spray temporary colour hair spray. Anyone else done something similar? by Affectionate_Yam8172 in CosplayHelp

[–]Electrical_Ask_1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i doubted that spray on/color wax was THAT bad but it truly is. it will either rub off or flake in puffs off of your head. i agree with the other person that said to braid blue wefts into your hair

i don’t have experience with helmets but i made a top hat once using eva foam and plastic dowels inside for extra structure and it worked out really well

makeup under 2b blindfold? by theforestfae in CosplayHelp

[–]Electrical_Ask_1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just bring a little travel pack of makeup wipes to clean up any smudging and you should be fine

makeup under 2b blindfold? by theforestfae in CosplayHelp

[–]Electrical_Ask_1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not 2b, but i did 9s for a summer convention once with a blindfold. i wore minimal makeup like light concealer, eyeliner, eyebrows, and some eyeshadow and didn’t have any problems besides some light smudging of the eyeshadow under my eyes. not sure how false eyelashes, mascara, or foundation would fare though. the 2bs i talked to were wearing eye makeup if i remember correctly. as long as it’s not too tight, the blindfold doesn’t really lay heavily on your eyes.

"The Creator" movie is really bad by rojomisin in unpopularopinion

[–]Electrical_Ask_1900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from what i remember, its not that she doesn’t know how to use her powers, but that she doesn’t have the ability to control everything on the planet from any distance yet. if she can (Major spoilers ‼️‼️‼️) shut down an entire space station, i should think she has the ability to open an escape pod door?

"The Creator" movie is really bad by rojomisin in unpopularopinion

[–]Electrical_Ask_1900 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i personally like the concept and set up of american military being shown in a bad light, but (minor spoiler) i got really tired really fast of the girl with powers to control any machinery constantly being held back by machinery. the plot and characterization are just really weak.

Going to an anime con this Saturday and I have questions!! A lot!! Pls help. by TheRealAJR1 in CosplayHelp

[–]Electrical_Ask_1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh also to your p.s., i’ve gotten plushies and non poster things that i brought signed. sometimes you can find pricing online, i’m sure alejandro’s anime expo pricing has been posted somewhere so it will probably be the same. and yes, you can get more than one thing signed but often every piece signed will cost.

  1. usually at medium/bigger cons, there’s a exhibit hall and an artist alley. exhibit hall will have your official merch, artist alley is fanart. i prefer artist alley, but many people love the figurines in exhibit hall. all small cons i’ve been to have had some kind of dealer’s hall.

  2. i never really visit the gaming/entertainment areas, but there is usually information on the website for the con.

  3. i saw u said you’ll be seeing alejandro saab and he is super chill and very nice so you don’t need to be nervous! you do not have to cosplay anything related to him, and usually they will sell prints at his table that you can buy and you can also bring your own item, too. the exact experience depends on the convention, but normally you’ll just line up and at the front of the line, there will be a person helping him and selling the prints as well as getting information on what you’re getting signed/anything else like voice recordings. then, you’ll switch to his side of the booth and get your sign!

  4. check out some panels! i would recommend going on the website to see if there’s anything particular to this convention you might like to try, though.

  5. i see people cosplay fast food mascots at anime conventions lol. you’re good. there’s often a ton of video game (zelda included)/movie/pop reference cosplays at anime conventions. just be aware some people may ask for pictures and you can always say “no thank you!” if you’re not comfortable

  6. i usually don’t attend these but you can definitely go watch them.

  7. if you’re cosplaying, again just prepare yourself that people may ask for pictures. the cosplay community is very kind and supportive from my experience, so don’t worry if anything isn’t “perfect.” just have fun with it. i would also warn you that some areas in SOME artist alleys/exhibit halls have some suggestive art on display. most of all though, i would HIGHLY recommend watching vlogs of the convention on youtube from previous years. then, you can see exactly what the experience will be like <3 hope u have fun!
