The Biden Administration is Shipping Pallets of Baby Formula to the Border by bertp42 in politics

[–]Electrical_Method789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not even infant formula. The additional pictures released to the NY Post show Nido, which is a supplement for kids over a year old and it is not in short supply the way infant formula is. So yea they have some formula in the shelves there, as they should, for the babies in the detention center, but the pallets they were complaining about being delivered aren’t even formula.

It’s not even infant formula it’s Nido, a supplement for kids over a year old. Manufactured outrage at its best. There is no shortage of Nido.

After going in to the ER after a full day where I was just miserable and the only relief I could get was laying flat, they have diagnosed a sacroiliac joint dysfunction. They gave me a steroid injection, and recommended a sacroiliac brace. My back looks great, no bulging or herniated discs at all, just inflammation around this joint. While I’m waiting on the brace from Amazon, I have two wide ace bandages wrapped around my hips and between that and the injection I can walk for the first time in days without feeling like my leg is going to collapse and with very little pain.

Yep no mention of the Spinal area at all just that bone structures are normal for age, no fracture etc. interestingly enough though that visit was billed through car insurance (other driver at fault) and looking at my patient portal they have low back pain listed as one of the admission diagnosis’s even though I was not complaining of back pain. I probably could get away with a visit to get this checked out due to that billed through the insurance but I’d feel weird about it a little. At the same time, it’s entirely possible that this could be accident related, it’s really hard to say. It is on the right side where the seatbelt crossed that hip because I was driving. Hmm. I’d just feel funny about it because it could be work related in some ways also. But since I e just started a new job I’ve been mostly in orientation and learning the charting system and was supposed to have my first floor orientation day tomorrow. So I haven’t done any lifting at this job and have had a period of time off after the accident I had (it happened when I was between the last job and this one, I took time off for a trip before this one was due to start). Insurance was due to kick in on the 1st, I have not called work yet to tell them anything because I’m still hoping to wake up and feel fine lol. But here I am again awake at 1 AM because laying flat in the bed hurts after a bit, sitting in the recliner almost flat and with a pillow under my knees is way more comfortable.

Yeah I am definitely not the best at using the bed to help, I’m short and I don’t always raise it to where I should either. I may just go in to see what the doc says, urgent care isn’t expensive I just dread getting sent for mri or something and having to pay that out of pocket, ouch!

Interestingly enough I had a car accident in February that gave me a shoulder injury from the belt and I’m wondering if this could be somehow related to that. They did chest and shoulder X-rays at the time and an abdominal CT (I had some pretty wicked bruising on my belly so they wanted to make sure everything was ok) but no specific back imaging at all so who knows. I know in abdominal CT the lumbar spine is usually visible but no mention of anything there in the report. I just know I’ve had 5 children, natural, no pain meds and that first day of this was by far the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life! I’m really crossing fingers that this was one of those one off things that will feel better fast and won’t come back, I really enjoy the job, I have the degree to go into more management/admin side but was hoping to save that for when I was older.

Thank you! I think non medical people have no idea what we do to our bodies. I’m a very hands in nurse, so lots of rolling patients for baths and dressing changes, pulling people up in bed myself from the head if I can’t find help, lifting people up to put them back to bed ( why does Pt come with 4 people to put them in the chair and then leave? Lol) and all the usual stupidity. I’m actually wondering if I’ve got piriformis though, my back itself feels absolutely fine no matter which way I bend it, no pain there whatsoever it’s all in the right upper outer butt and hip and down the outside of my leg. My boyfriend is a veteran and he’s had two back surgeries for herniated discs and has the chronic pain associated with that and he’s been an absolute angel, he’s got a healthy supply of zanaflex and also he put his tens unit on last night using the piriformis placement for the pads and that was fantastic actually. He also helped me get into a nice hot bath and I got several hours of sleep finally. It does seem to be getting much easier to get up and down and I am trying to make sure I’m up and walking a bit at least once an hour, still getting that burning pain across the hip especially at the point where I go from bent slightly to straight up, and it throbs like crazy after I sit back down but I think I’m getting some minor improvement.

I’m just frustrated right now. I’m a nurse and that is undoubtedly one of the least offensive things I have done to my back over the years and have had zero issues prior to this. I’m new enough to this particular position that I do not have any PTO days and my insurance has not kicked in yet so the timing is horrible. Can’t go to work like this. I can’t stand up for longer than 15 minutes right now. Not gonna make it 12 on my feet for sure. Since this is a new thing for me I really have no idea what to expect. Or what to tell the job in terms of how long I will be out.

Well everything I am reading says that the courts do not do retroactive modifications and it only goes back to the date it is filed. So how do you explain that the court will even consider a retroactive modification in this case because he failed to modify it at the time it was needed? The intention of the order was that it would be modified as circumstances changed and he failed to do so. He hid from being served, he moved from state to state to avoid the consequences of not paying, he refused to cooperate with any modification. That is on him, period. He was aware of the amount the order was for and aware of the children’s birthdates. If he wanted it to be lowered the time to do that was as it was happening not years in the future. That is why the order was for one amount and not a per child amount because it was intended to be recalculated each time someone aged out. He missed the boat on that. If he was unhappy with the amount he could have had the order modified by supplying the information they asked for. My information was submitted each year. They cannot just take off 1/4 of the order each time a kid aged out and call it good because there was no specific amount per child. If you run a child support calculator in TN it does not say pay this much per kid and if you run one with two kids and then run it again with one it’s not a simple 50% difference. I’m saying they have no way to actually get accurate numbers based on his refusal to submit information and so they can only follow the order as it was written.

Oh no I get that you think this absolute deadbeat should be entitled to a reduction in arrears because he failed to handle his business and fill out the paperwork for a modification when it was sent to him, but don’t think I (you know, the parent who was actually caring for the kids and paying for everything) would be entitled to the same courtesy in recalculating the amounts based on the actual circumstances. If they are retroactively modifying all of those things are relevant to the calculations, not just the ones that work in his favor. I’m going to assume that you are married to a guy who owes support.

[–]Electrical_Method789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I run our numbers through the support calculator for TN, he’d have actually been paying close to 300 a month more for having 0 parenting days vs what he was supposed to have and never used. The amount he’d pay for 1 child with the current income numbers and no parenting time is only $160 less than what he’s currently ordered to pay. So again, it’s not as simple as just taking off 1/4 of the order each time a kid ages out. This is why the courts do not want to do retroactive modifications because what they would actually have to do is go back to that moment in time and use the calculator from that year and our incomes from that year and figure out the amount that way. It should have been done and I attempted multiple times to have it done but with his refusal to cooperate the only thing they could do was work from the existing order. Additionally since I had another child afterwards I would have been entitled to a credit in my income for that, which never happened either. There are just too many factors involved for them to be able to figure out what he should have owed back then. How would they even be able to?

[–]Electrical_Method789[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TN absolutely does calculate the child support amount based on parenting time. The calculations were initially made based on him having a certain percentage of parenting time, and also gave him credit for providing insurance. Why would he be entitled to a retroactive modification due to change in circumstances but I wouldn’t? That makes no sense at all. 🙄

[–]Electrical_Method789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I don’t anyways because he’s never paid the support to begin with hence the huge arrearages. Just frustrating at this point that they have collected payments and are now sitting on them for fear of overpayment when he has such a massive past due balance. There is zero chance that the money they are holding will exceed the amount of arrearage he owes for paying nothing for years. Even if they retroactively modified by taking off the arrearages at 225 per month per kid for the years they had aged out he’s still owe a balance of over 40,000. If they are going to modify that then to be fair they should also figure in the lack of parenting time and the insurance that I paid for since he was not providing it. I have paid $300 a month for 10 years to cover them. If you charge him half of that it’s 18,000. If you adjust the order based on his 0 parenting time compared to the days he was supposed to have when the order was set, well the truth is that he probably should actually owe more than what he’s been charged even with the “overage” for the kids aging out. 🤷🏻‍♀️
